079 Shotgun Dave Rides East (2003)

Another missing project can be marked FOUND thanks to kitt66 who made it possible!  All hail kitt66!

This is a short that clocks in a eight minutes plus another ninety seconds of outtakes (keep watching past the end credits.)  As is often the case with the shorts, because Peter is a (or the) main character he actually gets more (and better) screen time than in many of the full length films he’s been in. 

And luckily for us, this conforms to that pattern.  Even though there are people in the background, this is basically a two-hander between Tim Dantay as Dave -- who is just out of prison and anxious to start on a rather peculiar canoe trip that would definitely NOT be advisable in today’s political climate -- and Peter as Rob who is more anxious to stay at home in Doncaster in his ridiculously flattering jeans and grey-cord pea coat (and extremely familiar wedding ring that changes hands at one point) and collect his giro so he can drink all the Stone’s Bitter and not even have to THINK about swans.

There is dialogue, so it isn’t a silent, but there’s really only enough dialogue to establish that Tim is from Manchester and Rob is most definitely Scottish.  But who needs dialogue when you have a face to make expressions?

And the palest legs in world to dance with!  Dance Rob dance! Do your happy hoppy beach dance!  And also running! Do it forever!

(And also hair that makes me think this was made around the same time he did the flash-back scenes in Solid Geometry.)
