Beatles Brunch

First live music performance at New England Brewing Co. Tim Palmieri solo acoustic 1/29/2017
“Komm Gib Mir Hand” by The Beatles
Oh, komm, doch. Komm zu mir. do nimmst mir den Verstand. Oh, komm, doch. Komm zu mir. Komm, gib mir deine Hand. Komm, gib mir deine Hand. Komm, gib mir deine Hand.
Tim asked for a deep cut request - so I requested this. I knew he knew it.
“Paint It Black” by Tim Palmieri (Rolling Stones cover)
I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door I must have it painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black
Tim does a solo acoustic version of this (and yes, for those who are paying attention, he’s using a looper) with a brief detour into Willy Wonka land.
Two For Tuesday
Kudos...
To Tim Palmieri for the seamless and inspired segue from "Hits From the Bong" into "The Last Dance With Mary Jane" last night.
This song is about my piano softly whimpering.
Tim Palmieri, after someone requested “Piano Man” during Beatles Brunch and before playing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”
“Baby Bitch” by Ween
Got fat, got angry, started hating myself Wrote, "Birthday boy" for you babe Now I'm skinny and sick and paranoid Without a cent to my name
Baby, baby, baby bitch Fuck you, you stinkin' ass ho Most beauty I've seen, you come from a dream But I can't close my eyes anymore
So when I moved to CT, I connected with the Tim Palmieri crowd in New Haven and he used to play this on his acoustic Wednesdays at Bar. His version was always a bit more angry (although angst is totally not his thing) and a reflection of the crowd’s connections to this song - lotsa people singing/yelling along. It really doesn’t get nearly enough credit for being a great breakup song.
“Folsom Prison Blues (live)” by Tim Palmieri (Johnny Cash cover)
I used to go see Tim (from The Breakfast and Kung Fu) play acoustic sets every Wednesday during the summer at Bar in New Haven. “Folsom” was a regular part of the set and often he’d do neat things with it, like mash it together with Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” in which he alternated verses while playing the “Folsom” music. It was always the highlight of the show.
Oh, and he breaks a string part way through and doesn’t miss a beat. And still manages to pull of a pretty cool solo.
