Father thyme
A idea that has been rattling around my empty head was a ghost. A time ghost. A time ghost based on a pun, father thyme.
Father time + ghost + time powers + thyme plant + pun = father thyme. A plant based ghost with time powers.
I looked up thyme and discovered it had many uses.

Thyme is a Mediterranean herb with dietary, medicinal, and ornamental uses. The flowers, leaves, and oil of thyme have been used to treat a range of symptoms and complaints.
(I thought perhaps his origin might be he was once part of undergrowth but became his own being through a crazy series of events that lead to him being older than undergrowth through accidental time travel.)
Anyway, I decided he wasn't as strong as clockwork and was more limited, but that doesn't mean he follows the same rules as clockwork. He has his own rules. Probably doesn't interfere with time unless he believes he has too(has to be something dire)
He likes thyme tea and will serve it to guests.
He has a garden in his lair and grows all kinds of thyme.
I had this image in my mind of large flowers holding huge orbs of water where images of time appear.
Father thyme has servants who help tend to the garden,they don't have free will as they are part of father thyme (think cuttings of a plant that are used to grow a identical plant from the cuttings)
