“Overdid it a little?”
“Yeah, he was testing his boundaries.”
Hayle turned his head, Hayden sleeping soundly on his lap after a rough couple of hours. Chris had gotten a text from a very sad and upset Vy, as he had to go to work, or more like Hayden had ordered him to go to work, saying he would be fine with some rest.
“It is odd how fast I forget how normal this was.”
“Yeah, but I think that’s just because it's something none of us really wants to remember.”
He sits down next to Hayden on the bed, gently stroking his cheek, happy to feel him not being all too warm, Vy’s heart doing a good job of healing him up and getting him back to his normal cold self. The first couple of weeks had been pretty rough on both of them, with Vy feeling just how ill Hayden was, and Hayden’s overreacting to the energy at first until it slowly stabilized, Chris still remembering the first day he came running down the stairs on his own, just laughing and running around the house for five minutes before sitting down, catching his breath. It had been a slow road from there, Hayden having to slowly train up his body again, building up muscle and stamina figuring out where his limits were before his illness, that was still there in the background fought back, and with the months passing, he and they learned how to deal with a new Hayden, and how it all worked. This was one of those days where he had overdone it on purpose, testing if the barrier for it had been moved, which he only did when he knew one of his parents were home, so Vy, Rylan, and River could all go to their respective work without worrying about him, he knew as well of course that they still did worry, but not enough to stay home.
Hayden opened his eyes seeing Chris there, smiling at him.
“If you two want to go do something, you can, I’ll just sleep some more.”
Hayle looked at Chris, not too happy with leaving him, that old fear still burrowing in the back off his head.
“I can put this on, and it will warm you if something happens?”
He motions to the bracelet on his desk when he was home alone, he still put it on, just in case something happened and he needed help.
Hayle smiled, and kissed the top off his head, then walked outside the room, only to find Lobo and Felix finding their way in, both jumping up in Hayden’s bed.
