I feel so alive when i’m on top of my love battles
Hi, any advice on working and college in the Logistics area in the same time? I'm busy since I wake up at 4am to 22:30 when I get off college. Is there a magic where I can make the time stops? Aaha
When you have no time, be strategic with the time you do have.
I’m proud of you for doing what you can under these circumstances! But please tell me you won’t have this same schedule next semester. We can deal with this for now, but I’m sure you’re realizing this really isn’t a long-term strategy that works for you. The long and short of it is to be strategic with the time you do have.
I consulted my friend Tim on this matter because last year he also had no time to eat/sleep/be a person most days. He says:
Honestly, it was about forcing myself, once or twice a week, to schedule time just for me. It wasn’t a lot, but for an hour or two, I would just do something I wanted. from running to class to then having to work, it feels like there is no time, but taking just those couple hours every week makes a world of a difference.
One other thing I would do is I finally asked people for help. I studied with people, if I was lost I asked for guidance instead of running through stuff trying to make it fit, and one of the two jobs I worked gave me some flexibility with doing homework since I worked at the school.
Taking an extra hour to sleep or relax can be much more beneficial to your mental and physical health than taking that time to study for a test you have already been studying for, as an example.
Almost every night, I write a to-do list for the next day, dedicating a task or two to morning, afternoon, evening, and night. In the morning, I have an hour commute on public transport, so I’ll send emails, read for class, or type an assignment. In the afternoon, I have breaks between classes, so I’ll schedule appointments with advisors, see a friend on campus, or finish writing a paper. Do this with every time slot you have, from fifteen minutes to a few hours. Like Tim said, make sure your Me Time goes on the schedule.
Tim made another good point: If you haven’t already asked your job to account for your school schedule, you should bring it up. Everyone has responsibilities outside of work, and for you, school is a priority. I have had the fortune of working in places where my supervisors understood and worked with me to create a flexible schedule to benefit the both of us. And if you don’t have time for your professors’ office hours, ask them to make a separate appointment that works with both of your schedules.
You can do this! Let me know if you have any questions.
Does anyone just feel confused?
Recently I’ve been living a very hectic life. Finishing my senior year of college, working 35 hours a week between my two jobs that I need to pay rent, trying to do an internship in my “free time”.
I’m usually pretty good at asking my friends for attention and support when I need it. Recently I’ve found that I want something, I just can’t figure out what it is.
Sometimes analyzing and understanding your own feelings can be difficult. Maybe I just want someone to care about me. Or listen to what I’m saying. Recently I’ve looked at my friend group and realized that they’re just kind of “borrowed friends”. People that you have nothing in common with, and that you both just orbit around another friend. I think maybe I would like to be the star in my solar system for a bit. But sometimes, to form a new solar system, stars have to move a ways away where they can’t be affected by another’s gravitational pull.
Day 16 - 100 days of productivity
Since I just finished up my first year of college, and am now preparing for my sophomore year, I thought I would write a series of posts, or “guides”, for surviving college. I’ve created a small list of potential topics for these guides, but it’s becoming hard to think of ideas. So far I have:
Overcoming the transition from high school to college
Surviving Midterms/Final exams
Managing Your Time
Dorm Life
Avoiding the Freshman 15
Parties/Hangovers
Papers
Long-distance Friendships
Managing Money
Clubs/Extracurriculars
Mental Health
Romantic Relationships
Surviving in a College City (especially if you’re from a small town)
Studying Tips/Tricks
Meeting New People.
I’m starting to outline these topics now, but if you have anything more that you’re curious about or had struggles with when you went to college, shoot me a message. Mayhaps I have some experiences that I can share with you. :)
