Ok musically inclined side of the Les Mis fandom, I have a question. What specific note(s) does Jean Valjean sing at the final “MOORRREEE” of “One Day More”? Notably Alfie Boe belts out a G4 from the very start of the sustain without changing notes, but is that unique to him over other Les Mis Jean Valjeans? I’ve listened to some other casts singing the same part, and in some I can definitely tell the JVJ isn’t singing a G4 until the final note change (that is very confusing I’m sorry) but in others it’s harder to tell because everyone is singing and it’s hard to differentiate. (and Im closer to being tone deaf than having perfect pitch) I don’t know if it’s just personal preference, if it’s determined by the specific score on each production, or if this is a more universal recent change that I just haven’t heard before. My only hypothesis is that Alfie Boe decided himself that he wanted to just belt a G4 the whole sustain, rather than the regular build up notes to get to a G4 for the final few counts. IMO it is more impressive vocally for Alfie to sing it his way, and he’s fully capable of doing so, so why wouldn’t he knock people’s socks off with his voice. I haven’t really seen any Les Mis productions in the past few years besides the 2019 concert, so maybe this has been a change that’s been around for years already, and I’m just not aware. I kinda doubt anyone will be able to answer this, but I might as well ask.

Hi everyone! This is a little announcement about the time of the posts. So, actually (usually) I post overnight, but from Thursday I start a web page course and the schedule is of afternoon and a bit of night. I.e I will post during the morning as of the Thursday.

In light of my recent Les Mis hyperfixafion (that happens every few months without fail), this was created to accuracy represent my follow base. I’ve been in so many fandoms over the years of having this blog. It’s a mess, quite frankly, but it’s one I’m not going to fix. It is kind of odd to think that the vast majority of my followers came from when I was active in the BBC Sherlock fandom (🤢) years ago... Anyways it’s PSA time, the downloadable version of the Les Mis 35th anniversary concert comes out on August 4th so you should buy it and watch it 😎
