How To Fit In Exercise Into Your Busy Schedule
Everybody has a lot on their plates. Modern life makes us as busy as our energy can take. This is one of the reasons why so many people do not exercise regularly.
If you have a busy schedule with no room for exercising at the gym, there are still ways to squeeze in some minutes of exercising everyday without taking too much of your precious time.
Commuting To Work
You can adjust your daily commute to work to include some amount of exercise without it affecting your routine. If you drive to work, start parking at the farthest end of the parking lot and do some brisk walking to the building where you work and doing it again when you have closed for the day.
If you ride the train, subway or bus to go to work, get off at a stop from where your workplace is situated and do some brisk walking to finish of the last leg of your commute.
These are a few ways that you can include brisk walking into your daily life without having to allocate a dedicated time for it; you just need to make it a part of your normal routine.
When You Are At Work
When you are at work, there are a few things that you can do to exercise. For starters, you can make it a policy of always taking the stairs instead of using the elevators. Stair climbing is a good lower body cardio exercise that burns a decent amount of calories.
If you have to climb more than 20 flights of stairs to get your office/place of work, you can always climb some flights and then use the elevator to complete the distance.
As you do this regularly, you would be able to climb more flights of stairs every day both to and fro your office. If you add brisk walking in the parking lot and climbing stairs into your daily routine, you have a good enough exercise routine (that is better than nothing).
During lunch break, if you have to move up or down floors to grab some food, make sure you take the stairs and not the elevator. You can also walk more during office hours by going to a co-workers office/desk when you want to communicate instead of using email or text messages.
You can also come up with creative ways to exercise when you are at work. An example is doing some body weight squats that you can do at your desk when you want to stretch.
When You Are At Home
There are some house chores that you may already by doing that can be regarded as exercise, examples include: using a manual lawn mower (not the type you drive) to move your lawn, shovelling snow, sweeping/vacuuming your house, tendering to your garden, cleaning your windows, walking your dog, washing your clothes manually etc.
A lot of people think that to exercise, they need to actually go to a gym or allocate 30 minutes – 45 minutes from their busy schedule, however you can exercise for just 10 minutes three times a day and it would be just as good as if you exercised for 30 minutes at a stretch.
In a lot of scenarios, it is a lot easier to exercise for 10 minutes three times a day than to allocate a complete 30 minutes for exercise.
No matter how busy you are, you can still incorporate exercise into your schedule.
