"I suppose it is," the Doctor said, glancing around at their current surroundings, shrugging. Don't get him wrong-- he agrees with her, thinking any planet he visits is rather fascinating as he's always down for an adventure, but he's currently going through one of his moods. As tough of a time he's having of late, there is absolutely nothing that could stop a grin from appearing on his face. Nothing in the whole, wide universe. "Sarah Jane Smith!" One of his oldest, most dearest of friends. Her presence had been missed recently. After seeing Mel again, and Ace, and even reconnecting with Donna, there was always room in his hearts for her. "Oh, it's been a long, long time. And it is so good to see you." And if he doesn't get a hug, he'll riot. He steps back, gracefully motioning to himself. "So what do you think?"

It was rare that the Doctor truly went back. Oh, he always said he would, and he always intended to, but he never did. There were people he cared about that had died, ones that spent the rest of their lives waiting for him. It wasn't that he didn't care, but more that he cared too much. It hurt too much to leave, so it was easier to never return. Which was why it had taken him so long to make this trip. He'd never gone to her funeral, but here he was now, standing in front of her.

It wasn’t at all unusual to find Zari awake late into the night. Gallifreyans, he insists, need less sleep than humans do and more to occupy their minds. By this time, on any other night, he would be quietly tinkering away in his room or deep diving into the history of this strange planet. But this time, Zari sat on the living room couch in silence. His eyes were turned towards the tv with some documentary playing, but it was clear that he wasn’t actually watching any of what was going on.

He was so off in his own head that he didn’t at all notice Sarah.
