"Old Shanghai" by Sivan Talmor Sivan's pretty ukulele take of "Old Shanghai" is the final one of the TimeOutTelAviv series on the song. Thanks for putting it together, TimeOutTelAviv! artist: Sivan Talmor website her Soundcloud page
"Old Shanghai" by Amit Erez and the Secret Sea Wow I am kind of stunned by this one--I think it is amazing. I love the downtempoed melody, the cello, the classical guitar. It's a beautiful mix of things, and unique, but still simply done. This is the 4th of the TimeOutTelAviv series, where a website (or magazine? not sure) in Israel collected five versions of "Old Shanghai." Amit Erez is a somewhat famous Israeli musician, so much so that he's on Wikipedia at least. I couldn't find much about The Secret Sea, except that they've recorded behind Amit (see the bandcamp page). artist: Amit Erez and the Secret Sea Amit's webpage Amit's wikipedia bandcamp
"Old Shanghai" by Old Man River Again, this is one of those TimeOutTelAviv series of "Old Shanghai," a short but lively ukulele take on the song. artist: Old Man River website
"Old Shanghai" by Uzi Ramirez So if you recall, last month, there was a website in Quebec that coordinated 5 local bands/artists to all do "Old Shanghai." Well, now TimeOutTelAviv, a website in Israel, has done the same thing! Worldwide! The first one I have here is a lively folk version by Uzi Ramirez; one website refers to him as an "iconic musician in the Israeli indie scene."
