trope: fake dating

synopsis: fushiguro is convinced he doesn’t want a relationship.  you’re convinced that you self-sabotage any attempt at intimacy. it’s exactly what drew you together: making fun of couples lingering on the street and pinpointing what catastrophe would lead to their imminent break up. 

when itadori keeps trying to convince fushiguro to go on a blind date, he begs you to pretend to be his s/o.  it’s perfect -- neither of you want anything to do with love.  it’s easy enough: going to coffee shops and chatting on the weekends, texting him to make things believable, and wearing his sweatshirt because that’s what couples do, right? except later, when things become so normal that you actually look forward to the sight of fushiguro--the slight smile on his face from an inside joke, a lingering gaze that’s obviously meant to make sure you’re okay-- you ghost him.  why? you’re terrified that along the way, you might have broken a few of your very clear “no-dating” rules. 

but...it turns out ghosting someone who knows you very well is nearly impossible.
