BIBLETIME - Joshua 2

So now, let’s move to chapter 2.

This chapter tells about Joshua send two spies to Jericho. When they arrived, they entered a house of prostitute and stayed there. They almost get caught, but thankfully saved through this prostitute, named Rahab.

What caught me is Rahab’s saying in verse 9-10, she said that great fear has fallen upon Jericho. They heard how Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea and what Lord do when they fight Sihon and Og, the two kings of Amorites, whom they completely destroyed.

Many times, God did miracles in our life. In the mean time, we really thankful and praise Him. But when the circumstances changed, and fear crippling into our hearts, we forget the fact that our God, our Lord is mighty. And most importantly, He promise to always walk with us, never leave nor forsake us.

And in v. 11, Rahab said that, “Our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”

Even she believed that our Father Yahweh is the most powerful God, the God who’s really alive. He is God in heaven and on the earth.

And one thing, that I still confuse. I feel like this Rahab story have connection with second coming of Yeshua Hamasiach, because - She don’t know when will Israelites attack Jericho - Those spies promised to spare her and her family when the day comes - She has to tied scarlet cord in the window for sign to Israelites - If there’s family outside of that house when Israelites came, it’s not their responsibilities if they got slain too It means, Rahab have to be on alert every single day, expecting when will the Israelites come. And when the time come, she have to make sure that all of her family is under covenant.

But I still don’t get the message, I think.

BIBLETIME - Joshua 1

Today, I start to read Joshua. 

Chapter 1 - After the death of Moses, God told Joshua to bring Israelites into the promised land. Indeed, it’s not an easy task. Seeing the facts about how stiff-necked Israelites even when Moses leads them.

Joshua got so overwhelmed with this task, and seeing him getting discouraged, God promised him, (and for us)

1. I will give you every place you set your foot (v. 3) 2. No one will be able to stand against us all the days of his life (v. 5) 3. God will never leave us, nor forsake us (v. 5) 4. You may be successful wherever you go. (v. 7) 5. You will be prosperous and successful (v. 8)  6.  The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (v. 9)

What we have to do, 1. Be strong and courageous 2. Be careful to obey all the law Moses gave, do not turn from it to the right or left. 3. Keep the Book of Law always on your lips. -- When I search “lip” in bible, there’re so many verses that shows the relationship between lips and heart. And mostly tells us that what’s your lips says reflect your heart’s condition. 4. Meditate on it day and night, so... the reason is, so you may be careful to do everything written in it. We should not do only half, or ninety percent of it. Because God clearly said that everything should be done. 5. And again, He said be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

He is such a loving, responsible God. He doesn’t just command us to do something, He promise us in everything the Lord our God will be with us wherever we go. 

I think, even our parents, our best friends, our partners can’t do this. In many ways, human shows flaws even when they don’t actually mean it. But, He was, always,and will be with us wherever we go, because He already promised.
