I see the beginnings of the “finding herself” phase and I can’t wait to watch what comes out of it. I’ll let her do and be anything (within reason), to help her discover herself in a safe and valid environment. If I seems silly to us to be wearing goth type clothes in 2018, doesn’t matter. It’s new to THEM. Everything is for the first time. I feel like a kid myself experiencing these things with her all over again. BUT I do love when she comes to me and asks me for genuine advice and opinions, knowing I’ve “been there, done that” and she values my words. She might not always agree, but she takes it into consideration. Unless it’s dangerous, illegal I’ll let her find her own way - if she falls, she’s learned on her own. . . . As a parent you HATE it when they choose the wrong path that YOU knew was the wrong choice and now they’re hurt. You hate to see them in any kind of pain: physical, emotional, whatever. Sometimes, that’s the only way they’re going to learn though. By going THROUGH it. Sometimes, our words as mom or dad just aren’t enough. As long as we’re there to help pick up the pieces after they fall. As long as they KNOW you’ll always be there to comfort their broken heart 💔 or drive them to the emergency room lol. Being a parent is a an instant and eternal panic attack from the second they hand you that baby until the day you die. My mother quoted me that before I had Daniella and still reminds me now, as if I’m unaware. It’s true though people. If you LOVE your babies, you’re constantly “on guard” waiting, watching, like a sniper somewhere in the trees lol. Daniella, my love, I got your back always and forever. Ride or die.
