˜”*°•. In that breathless chase of pleasure, everything appeared to burn. In that unstoppable hunt of distraction, everything seemed to collapse. Her smile replaced by disappointment, That loveliness ripped apart by coldness. It wasn’t just Sabrina that’d changed, though, was it? For one thing was for sure: the shame had nested deep inside his head, embraced his brain with its awful arms and kept poisoning it, polluting it, clouding it. Shame because of the regret. Shame because of the cowardice. He should have never played the hero. He should have never gone for a sacrifice. He should have never become this. Not everyone was born a savior.
But now that the dead-end was inescapable, now that decisions had been taken, now that she’d left, how could the consequences be tolerated? How could he keep fighting, keep choosing her over his whole existence? He couldn’t. He didn’t want to. And this was a weakness that’d only added to the dirt. The remorse. His personal torture.
Words began to escape his lips, bloodied fingers circling the dirt. A candle burning, eyes shutting. And a voice… A very unfamiliar voice. Steps approaching. Leaves crusting under the feet. ❝ Who are you? ❞ Spell interrupted, attention caught, voice intense and abrupt, gaze turning to meet a girl -- probably a mortal // Sabrina’s favorites --. Instinct shouted for him to correct his mistake, go for an attack, hide everything and let her think this’d been nothing but a horrible dream. Act like a fool, come up with some story, an inane tale. But there came another voice: the voice that encouraged him to wait.
