𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: listen. when Sophia sends in a request. I am obligated to drop everything and fulfill it. because that is what we do on this account. (lmao truly, I hope this hits the spot for you, sweetheart. I love and adore you and I will always do anything I can to help you feel better <3).
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: complete and utter fluff, nothing else I can think of!
A first kiss for Klitz...is probably one of the scariest things he could ever think of. It's on the same level as failing his finals or coming to school naked. An absolute nightmare.
It's why he put it off for as long as he possibly could.
It's nothing against you, truly. It's his own insecurities shining through. Which is also why he swears to himself that he won't even try to kiss you until he's completely sure of his own abilities.
He practiced approximately one time on his own hand before experiencing such a thorough, full body convulsion of disgust. Klitz was rushing to the bathroom immediately afterwards and scrubbing his hands multiple times over, trying to get rid of the awkwardness of the whole thing.
But he couldn't help his own desperation. And he'd be so embarrassed if you ever initiated anything or even hinted at wanting him to make a move.
You're at the movies with him and he's hesitant to do the arm maneuver, not wanting you to assume that it'll progress to a full makeout session.
He's terrified of dropping you off afterwards when you give him that wide eyed look. Expectant. That's the only thing he could see in that expression.
That's when he pulled out his best defense: a nice, innocent hug. You couldn't go wrong with a hug, right? He got to feel your chest against his and got a covert little whiff of your hair and you'd be satisfied with that level of contact for now...right? Surely he'd staved off the wrath of the kissing gods for yet another day.
He attempted to cement it in place with a polite, "I had a great time tonight. Same time again next week?"
"Uh-huh, I guess," you sighed.
Success.
Klitz pulled back and swerved around quickly, hoping you wouldn't catch a glimpse of his beet red face.
Then you said softly, "Do you not like me or something?"
He swore he felt his heart drop to his feet as he turned slowly on his heel, already nervously playing with the sleeves of his jacket. "...huh?"
"If you don't actually like me, you can tell me. I would really prefer that over you just wasting my time every weekend."
Klitz blinked fast, snapping himself out of his nervous haze. "No! I don't– I mean, I do like you. A lot! I like you a lot. And I swear that I'm not wasting your–"
"Then why won't you just kiss me already?"
And that was how the bomb dropped. Of course you said it. He should've known you would. But he didn't have time to berate himself for his lack of foresight. The only explanation he could manage to give was, "I...I didn't want to be bad at it."
"So you'd rather me think that you don't even want to kiss me?"
"I just– I don't know, okay? I wanted to be good at it. You...you deserve a good first kiss."
Klitz kept his eyes averted, his nose twitching as he tried to push his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. You were quiet and he could only imagine how you must've been seething at him. How could I have been so stu–?
"Any kiss with you would be a good kiss, Klitzy," you replied.
He looked up at you over the tops of his glasses. "Really?"
"Yeah."
"…okay."
Finally, Klitz held his head up; burning cheeks proudly exposed so you could truly see all of the too strong feelings that he'd held inside for fear of disappointing you. Suddenly, those worries seemed so silly to him.
It seemed hilarious, actually, as he strode forward and did the most confident thing he thought he'd ever done in his entire life. He actually kissed you.
Luckily, kissing you was nothing like failing finals or coming to school naked or any other nightmare his mind constructed for him. It was just...you. And him. Kissing.
He didn't dare introduce his tongue this time around; the idea of being like one of those horny couples in the hall shoving their tongue down each other's throats made him want to curl up into a ball and wither away. He kept it simple, placing little fervent kisses on your mouth as he cupped your face.
There may not have been any frills to it, but when he felt like he needed a breather, he was delighted to find that he could hardly see you through the fog that had formed over his glasses.
And he was even more delighted to hear you laugh.
Klitz chuckled along with you and squinted at you through his lenses. "So...how was that?" he asked.
"I mean...do you want me to rate it or something?"
"Yeah, sure. That works."
As the fog started to dissipate, he caught your nose scrunching up as you thought about it. Then you answered, "I'd say a solid six."
"A six?!" Klitz exclaimed.
"Oh, well, what would you rate it?"
"I don't know. Something higher than a six," he said, trying not to let his tone sound too offended.
You giggled again and gave him one last little peck. "I promise, you'll get plenty more chances to score better than a six, Klitzy."
And that...that sounded pretty good to him.
