Small Angels by Lauren Owen

I enjoyed the writing of this modern gothic ghost story but reading on an e-reader I was surprised after a week of reading that I was only at 50%.  The genre doesn’t really support such a long book, (I’ve now looked it up and the paper edition is 400 pages long).

I enjoyed it, I finished it, but… It really could have done with some strong editing.  It was repetitive and could have been cut by 100 pages.  Then, the impact of the beautiful writing and descriptions of nature, which are excellent, would have been enhanced 

An author to watch for.
