How to message first on Tinder
*For relationships
Congrats, you just got a match on Tinder! Whether it is your first match or your 30th, talking with new people can be a little nerve-wracking. Especially if you are new to online dating. Here is a quick guide to starting the conversation, and hopefully a new relationship.
1st tip: Message First, and as soon as you can. Both parties are notified when the match happens, and even though you can wait, the longer you do the more likely the other person will find someone else.
2nd tip: Don’t just say “Hi”. Simple is good, but you need to open up the conversation. Write something the other person can easily respond to.
3rd tip: Look at their profile, and reference something off of it. If you have an interest in common, start there. If their profile is sparse, look at their photos. Even a cheesy: “Loving your hair style! How’s your day going?” will start a conversation.
4th tip: Keep it Light. Compliment wise and tone wise. Keep it flirty, not filthy. Everyone likes a compliment, but if you are looking for a relationship, you need to get to know the person.
Last tip: Keep the conversation going. Once you exchange a few messages, don’t be afraid to ask for their number or ask them out on a date. It is a good way to let them know that you want to get to know them more.
Remember, a lot of people are shy when it comes to messaging first. So whoever you matched with could be in the same dilemma. Help yourself by learning to break the ice!
Good Luck!
