Tinimmyweek: Day Two

Flower/Family

In the early morning at Bob's Burgers, which was very unlikely for Tina, she was busy wiping down counters and filling up ketchup bottles. As she finally finished up she laid down on the booth cushion staring up at the wall.

The door swung open and Tina sat up to see who it was, a delivery, another customer, an to go order? Nope. It was Jimmy Jr, one of his hands behind his back. "Jimmy Jr?" What are you doing here so early?" Jimmy Jr laughed. "I could ask you the same thing. Tina noticed only one of his arms were laying down flat on his side. "What do you got hidden back there, sneaky pants?"

Jimmy Jr laughs again. "Saw you and found this by that flower shop before it closed." He removes his hand behind his back revealing an bouquet of roses. Tina's eyes widened. "Is that why you were so acting so weird yesterday during recess?" I thought you had something stuck in your butt-"

Jimmy Jr freezes. "What-"

Tina flushes looking away. "Nothing." She takes the bouquet of flowers. "Thank you though."

Jimmy Jr replies. "You're welcome, well I got to be going back, see you at school later?"

Tina replies. "Yes."

Jimmy Jr exits the restaurant and Tina sits back down. "Sweet." She said as she put them in an vase with clean water.

And as Jimmy Jr made his way back to the pizzeria Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria, he stopped, and said to himself, "What did she mean by that?"

He shrugged and went inside the pizzeria.

"I'm glad you didn't say no," Jimmy Junior says against Tina's hair. "Sorry for throwing up on your shoes." "Sorry for stepping on your feet during last dance," Tina mumbles against his arm. She's half-asleep and delirious with joy. The ring on her finger shines, the tacky plastic gemstone somehow still sparkling more than the fireworks in the night sky. Jimmy Junior puts up his matching hand and his own capsule trinket is bright as another firework bursts overhead, curtesy of Tammy's need to show off. Tina's not upset; she loves fireworks as much as anyone else, and watching them on the beach with her boyfriend after prom is a dream come true. Even if half of them spell out Tammy's name. "Do ya think we'll still have them when we're old?" Jimmy Junior asks with a yawn. He takes Tina's hand and their prom presents clink together. They'll have to head home eventually, but not quite yet. Tina doesn't hesitate to answer, confidence in every slurred word. "Maybe. Maybe we'll have better ones." Jimmy Junior meets her beaming smile with one of his own. His eyes glow with stolen beer and joy, until they're veiled as he leans down to kiss Tina as deeply as he can.

Tina sighs against the redhead's lips and then snuggles down into his embrace once more. The waves lap at her feet and wash her shoes clean. She's delirious with joy and probably an emerging hangover.

Tina lets the colorful lights overhead and the comforting weight on her finger lull her to sleep as surely as Jimmy Junior's heartbeat against her ear.

Favorite Tinimmy Moment

Every Which Way But Goose

Jimmy Junior is 13 and far less precocious about romance than Tina, but through their ups and downs, he is figuring things out. He comes through in the clutch for her time and again.

This episode builds up to a beautiful Tinimmy moment that always gets me right in the feels. For me, the ending of this episode is the sweetest thing any boy has done for Tina and shows how important Tina's feelings are to Jimmy Jr.

Jimmy Junior has been nervous all episode about telling Tina that he injured his butt while dancing. He's tried to talk to her a few times because he feels bad seeing her upset, but through a combination of him chickening out and Tina not letting him speak to her in private, important things haven't been said. As a result, she's not talking to him, and he's feeling bummed about it.

So he sucks it up, goes to the dance despite his injury, and plans to dance with her as best he can when even swaying back and forth hurts. In any other episode, a heartfelt confession and one instance of putting himself in physical pain just to show Tina how important her feelings are to him would fix things, but in this episode, Jimmy Jr. goes so much further than that.

As Jimmy is trying to dance with a still unresponsive Tina, Bruce (the goose she befriended in the park) arrives to jealously attack him. The dance goes off the rails as Mr. Frond calls animal control, and Tina is beside herself and willing to climb up the folded bleachers to help the panicking water fowl. Mr. Frond stops her because of the danger.

Despite the fact that he's still in pain and whimpering "ow" the entire climb, Jimmy Jr. climbs up there to stage the dangerous rescue for her. Bruce responds to his attempts by honking, flapping around in fear, and pecking at his hand.

Tina's attempts to help by calming Bruce are unsuccessful, but Jimmy Jr. doesn't give up. Even though Bruce is attacking him viciously and making him bleed, he keeps going. They even give us a close-up of his scratched and bleeding hand as he reaches in again and finally manages to free the irate goose.

Tina is impressed by his efforts, and Jimmy admits that he was motivated by seeing her so upset.

In this episode, he's:

confided to her about an embarrassing injury,

dressed as a zombie and gone to a dance despite every step hurting,

climbed a bleacher in pain to help an animal that has already attacked him,

and kept trying to free it while it continued attacking him...

...all because he hates seeing Tina upset. Tina is moved by this, and she rewards him with an unexpected kiss on the cheek. That payoff moment when he comes limping up to her explaining why he did it and is surprised with a kiss is one I never get tired of watching.
