January 17, 2017 - Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird (Pogoniulus bilineatus)

Found across much of central and parts of eastern Africa, these small barbets are usually seen alone or in pairs. They eat mostly fruits, including mistletoe berries and figs, along with a few insects. Nesting in cavities in dead branches, both parents care for the chicks. There are six recognized subspecies of these birds, including the Lemon-rumped and Golden-rumped Tinkerbirds.
