Tchang shivered.

The sky was clear of clouds, and blue, but not the nice kind of blue that you get when it's sunny; rather, a pale, pasty colour that wasn't very uplifting at all. The sun was doing an effectively useless job at creating any warmth whatsoever. It hung low over the horizon. Having passed the bulk of winter now, Belgium was currently stuck in that period of time where it is very nearly but not quite spring. And it was a lot colder than Tchang would have liked.

“I told you, you should have brought a coat.”

“Well, I didn't, did I?” huffed Tchang. “In China, if it looks like it's going to be cloudy, it is cloudy. If it looks like it's going to be sunny, it is sunny. You'd think the Belgian climate was hormonal with the amount of mood swings it goes through!”

Tintin's laugh was enough to turn up the corners of Tchang's mouth, but he was still unpleasantly cold. He wrinkled his nose, which tingled anytime his body dropped below a certain temperature.

Then, arms were wrapped around him. It made his heart flutter and his face flush red, but he summoned all of his might to ignore the warmth filling him with pleasure, and pull away. “Tintin, no. Not in public. If anyone suspected anything..”

Tintin pulled back immediately, almost like he had been struck. An expression familiar to him passed over his face, blank and empty, as he caught up with himself, and mentally chided his own idiotic blatancy.

A twinge of guilt sat in Tchang's stomach like a small pebble, knowing that what he had said was true - they really had to be careful - but worrying that he had expressed this too harshly.

He tried rubbing his hands up and down his arms in an attempt to create friction, but didn't need to, as warmth enveloped his shoulders. He looked at Tintin, who was no longer wearing his coat.

“Oh, but.. won't you be cold?”

“It will take more than a little breeze to defeat me!” The internationally-famed journalist winked. “Don't you worry. I'm fine.”

Tchang shrugged on the arms of the coat, relishing in the relief of the newfound heat. “At least roll your sleeves down.”

“Is that really necessary?”

“You have to do it, or I'll feel bad.” the shorter of the two stated dramatically, though his voice was muffled, seeing as he had pulled the collar right up over his chin.

Tintin tutted, but complied anyway, rolling down the sleeves of his jumper so that the blue fabric - for once - fit snugly around his wrists. “Happy?”

“Very.” replied Tchang. He inhaled the smell of the coarse brown material, the smell of Tintin. It made his insides feel just as cosy as his outsides.

It may have taken some bargaining for Tintin to get the coat back.

So I like to think that after the events of Tibet, Chang becomes super fixated on learning survival techniques, like uh first aid or finding food or building shelters and starting fires n stuff

And maybe it comes in handy if they uh 👉🏻👈🏻 get stranded in a jungle or something
