The Qixi Festival, also known as the Magpie Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrating the annual meeting of mythology lovers Niulang (Cowherd) and Zhinü (Weaver). It is the considered the Chinese equivalent of Valentine’s Day.

The story goes, Weaver, grand-daughter of the Heavenly Queen of the West, was a goddess in charge of weaving the clouds. She secretly married a mortal Cowherd boy, which made the heavenly queen angry. To separate the couple, the Queen sliced the sky with her hair-stick, thus creating the Milky Way. However, moved by the sincerity of the lovers, all the magpies around the world use their bodies to form a bridge across the Milky Way so the couple can meet on the Seven of July every year.

Then and Later! The official Tintin instagram dropped a post for International Youth Day saying Zorrino, Chang and Tintin are the same age. Imagine if they went to school together...

I've already drawn post canon stuff with an aged up Zorrino where he becomes a prince through marriage, and my post canon comics centre Chang and Tintin's developing relationship.

As my post canon timeline is set right before the start of the Second World War, Miarka and her community would absolutely be facing trouble. Abdullah and the Crown Prince of Gaipajama would be embroiled in tricky political situations down the line.

When aging them up I tried to reference their parents or any family members to see what features they could grow into. Hergé did tend to draw kids with very similar faces so it was a challenge trying to pick features out. One thing's for certain - everyone ends up taller than Tintin.
