The symbols are soooo good! The bird trapped so clearly in Ash's body? Already amazing. But then across the scales of the snake there are still birds, which suggests that even the snake disguise is not perfect, it still reflects the avian instincts that peek through.... and the way that the snake completely engulfs Ash. Hes smothered. *Trapped.*

I love black mambas. And this one looks A MA ZING. It looks so protective of Ash. It has such pretty blue. And ough I dont know if you just added stars because they fit but the snake, the symbol of Soot, having stars in its mouth, the symbol of Prime, Lmanburgs goddess? Chefs kiss

This is so silly but I like to think that sometimes Wilbur forgets to make his eyes slits. It’s mention in I think chapter 1 that he’s a bird that can do both but whenever I’m spinning him around in my brain I imagine whenever he’s surprised or maybe during that drunk / tipsy scene he was just… round eyed. A normal little dude.

I then also imagine that techno researches snake hybrids and notices this unexplainable difference. He just narrows his eyes for a while. Maybe mentions it to Phil maybe not.

I mean… who would lie about such a thing? Everyone knows Wilbur’s a snake hybrid so it’s probably just a quirk :)

And then whenever the big reveal comes he’s just :O because it clicks into place. Maybe he claims he knew all along when he really didn’t. Just to get on Phil’s nerves.

The thing is, Ash rolls deception 20 on practically every scene- but he's rolling with an advantage

Plus, it's not exactly the peak of etiquette to gaze into another nobles eyes so most people do not even notice haha

New TinViM chapter is slowly shaping up

perhap this is too spoilery in which case carry on good sir etc but I lovveee tinvim so much and im so curious about the differences between the elytrian types!! we know almost nothing about singers, except that Wilbur’s never had a chance to fulfill that role, and that phil reacts to Wil’s #fakedeadwife being a singer like it’s something Espesially sad to lose/something to be protected, and then when he’s getting outed by ponk wilbur mentions that it’s a communal and archaic role and im sooo curious. my assumption is it’s like a bit of a caregiver position, like somebody who keeps up morale and gives encouragement, somebody to rally around that helps keep the flock together, possibly in part because of beautiful singing voice. which would make sense since the other roles we know about are emperor (leader?) gatherer (provider) workers (manual labor/strength focused?), which leave space for the classic jester style role of silly guy who makes everybody happy. if im anywhere close-ish to the truth, then it’s so deeply funny that wil’s entire brand is being an annoying little shit. shoutout to the Heart of the flock who causes problems on purpose.

Buckle up, its time for some world building about elytrians in TinViM!

SO

The basic classes (that I have finally figured out and written out beyond emperors and singers lmao) are as is:

Emperors

Singers

Workers

Gatherers

Scavengers (fighters)

Drones

Theres usually only 1 emperor per flock bc they are highly competitive and will murder other emperors trying to yonks their flock

Workers are valued due to the work they provide creating nests, preparing food and childcare, as well as all other tasks inside the nest area/around flock.

Then there are gatherers, who are not as valuable, which is why they are "allowed" to get outside the nest and flock and gather needed materials. Gatherers are not required role, which means that without a gatherer, emperor can easily take over those tasks

Then there are Scavengers. They are the role beneath gatherers- those are the fighters and soldiers. They are usually needed only when flock is in especially unsteady standing. Like when trying to steal people from someones else's flock, or to kill off an especially dangerous predator. But once more, not essential, emperor usually takes care of all those tasks

Aaand Drones. Drones do nothing. Only in great abundance Drones become an available role. They're the leeches, they dont do anything, except be there. They are usually the first ones to be stolen by other emperors and then forced through second puberty to get another role

Elytrians get 1st puberty like humans, then 2nd to grow wings around 15/16 and then if they're a drone, can get whacked by a third puberty to regrow them. Oof to them

But yall want to know about Singers

Singers are the inherently social role! They're slightly less rare than emperors and having a singer in a flock is a big flex. Or at least it is in the book universe and the past, in Ash's time it sadly really became a really archaic role that no one cares about

Singers, as you put together, are the Heart of the Flock. They are the mediators, jesters, cuddle bears and antistressors for all the members. They thrive of the attention!

They are also magically gifted. Beside the usual pocket dimension where the elytrians wings hide under elytra, singers also undergo a change in their throat during the second puberty. Their voice gets changed- not necessarily for singing

No no no. Singers do not *sing* with that voice.

Singers *screech*. Singers are the early warning system about any incoming danger.

An adult singer can screech loud enough to be heard across several kilometres, and can injure the hearing of people around them.

They are usually really primed to sense danger (anxiety cough-) and are the first ones to warn the flock and their emperor about the danger. They are also the fastest, to haul ass away from said danger lmao
