It’s a bunch of war orphan baby centaurs that no one asked for!
They don’t have any names yet, but I think they’re embarking on a villain arc. The first one is sort of carefree and optimistic. She’s going to be a healer/herbalist someday. I think her parents may have been herbalists or apothecaries, so she’s got a solid background on plants and what they do. She’s probably pretty well-versed on poisonous plants too. Eventually she’ll be quiet and wistful, as the weight of what happened and the weight of what they’re doing begins to crush her.
The second little ding-dong is an archer. He’s going to end up being the tallest and most muscular of the four. He has no idea what’s coming, but he’s desperately trying to look on the bright side too. He will probably always be a ding dong, and will believe anything his sister says, whether it’s true or not.
The oldest is the one who is carrying everything. She got the kids out of their camp/village and is watching over them. She will defend the others with her life, and makes sure they have everything they need and that they go to bed on time and stay out of danger. Her paranoia and anxiety will eventually infect the others. She’s the only one with tattoos-the others will never get them because anyone who did tattoos from their tribe will be long gone by the time they come of age. The others will look up to her as a leader for a long time. Her younger brother always will, but the herbalist will grow critical of her decisions and tolerate it, and the seer will eventually go off on his own. She collects orphans like Pokémon, and by the time they’re grown, she will have a rag-tag tribe of her own. She will command them to strike down anyone who stands in her way, no questions asked, on the quest to give her babies the life they were supposed to have.
The last little baby is the seer. He’ll grow up to be lithe and handsome, but entirely unhinged. He can see through the eyes of crows, and will eventually be able to command them. Right now, no one else is aware of what he can do, and though the oldest tried to protect him from the worst of it, he saw everything from the crows’ perspectives. He can’t control it now, so he’s forced to watch as the crows begin to scavenge and feed on the carcasses of the tribe that were left behind. Right now, that translates into muteness and night terrors, but eventually madness will grip him until even the matriarch is concerned with his level of cruelty. He’s sort of a druid in a sense, and will be able charm/control animals, but birds will always be his go-to.
The babies all have fawn-spots, but they’ll lose them as they grow older. The boys will grow horns or antlers, and they’ve got the buds of them now. Some girls grow horns too, and some boys won’t. It all just depends on their genetics.
I really enjoyed coloring this and tried a few new things to see what would happen with good results. :)
