Pearl had a good life, there were bumps, bruises and her rock bottoms, but she got over a lot of it with time. Hmm, time really does heal doesn't it, maybe not as much as you would like to think, but it did help.
The smaller avian looked over at Grian, the much larger and brighter colored avain. The two were raised together and she honestly wouldn't trade it for the world.
Grian could be a trickster and a huge goofball at times, but he was willing to fight god for his friends. Pearl admired him for that, he had faced dangers that she would probably die to if they just breathed on her. He had lost a lot, but still loved even more.
She watched the builder and redstoner who were playfully throwing things at one another fighting over something stupid things again. “Hey Pearlyo.” A voice called from beside her, she quickly turned her head to find Impulse laying up against her upside down boat house. He posed mimicking those of a bad romance movie, his teeth showing as if he had an invisible rose through them.
She laughed, “Hi Impulse.” The giant responded by laughing as well. Pearl was thankful for Impulse, she was terrified of giants for the longest time. But he was different, he was goofy, dorky, sarcastic and had a heart that matched his giant size perfectly.
“What’s the fight about this time?” He asked, raising an eyebrow showing his slight curiosity.
“I’m not even sure to be honest.” Her wings and shoulders drooped down with her head giving her an exaggerated movement. The Giant beside her just laughed.
“It’s entertaining though, it wouldn’t be boatem without their daily squabbles.” Pearl nodded her head in agreement.
“How's the factory going?” Pearl asked, the business kept the Giant busy a lot so seeing him out today was great.
“Good, hopefully I should be able to spend a few days away from it finally.” The large demon expressed his exhaustion with a quick head dip.
“Now I can cross forcing a break on Impulse off my list.” Pearl joked, causing Impulse to let out a playful huff.
“Oh please, you and what army-” They both looked down as the giant’s communicator went off.
“Plan anything?” She questioned, her eyes looking back up to meet his.
The demon shrugged, “Not that I remember.” He responded, pulling out the messaging machine from his pocket. “It’s Doc.” Impulse said slightly shocked.
“What did he say?” She asked curious, Doc was a man of few words, head always buried in his work. So a direct message to Impulse, out of the blue too, was strange.
“Just to meet him at some coords.” Impulse held up his communicator for the tiny to read. Pearl squinted suspiciously at the message.
When she was finished reading it she backed up. “What do you think he’s doing?”
“Redstone probably.” He shrugged looking at the coordinates and silently repeating them. “Might just want a second pair of eyes for a problem he ran into.” “I’ll tell you about it later, maybe it will make you less suspicious of Doc.”
It was Pearl’s turn to let out a huff. “I could know that man for a million years and still never be any less suspicious.” Impulse laughed, turning around his demon shaped elytra wings spreading open.
“I’ll let you in on the juicy details later.” He said, giving one last glance to the tiny avian.
“Oh please. As if I’d actually understand what you say.” She makes a motion with her hand showing everything he was saying was ‘going in one ear and right out the other.’ Impulse chuckled at her sarcasm. “Now go before you make him upset because you're late.” She said shooing him off with her hand. The demon finally took off, still laughing like a maniac.
She turned her eyes back to the two who were rough-housing. Grian had seemed to successfully pin Mumbo to the ground beneath him. Both were panting, both were smiling, both were sweaty hot messes that needed to take a shower really badly.
Pearl glided to the ground, staying back in case one of them moved suddenly. “What was it this time?”
The two turned to look at Pearl, “Mumbo made a joke about the back of my base, AGAIN.” Grian said the last word loudly, playfully curling his fist causing Mumbo to shrink back into the dirt.
“If you finished it you wouldn’t have that problem.” She pointed out making Grian turn back to her with a pained expression on his face. “YOU TOO?!?!? I can’t believe it, all of you are traitors.” The larger Avain said dramatically. He got off Mumbo who sat up putting his hand through his messy hair trying to tame it a little.
“Thanks for the rescue Pearl.” he said, while Grian had some sort of attack in the background.
“Welcome.” Pearl paused for a second, “Did Doc happen to message you at all?” She asked the redstoner who looked confused for a second, then quickly dug the communicator out of his pocket. Turning it on he scrolled through the server list before hitting Docm77.
“No, nothing new, why?” Asked Mumbo, who looked at her slightly concerned.
“Nevermind, It’s nothing.” She asked, waving him off.
“You still don’t like him huh?” Grian asked, butting into the conversation. The face Pearl made at him was all he needed to know. “Come on, he's not that bad.”
Pearl groaned, sticking her face in her hands. “You sound just like Impulse when you say that.”
“What do you mean by that?” Mumbo asked, Grian was just plain confused.
“He said the same thing earlier when Doc asked him over.” The two larger snickered at the tiny avian’s pain.
“Did he call him over for redstone assistance?” Grian asked, Pearl shook her head. The taller avian sat between Mumbo and pearl sticking his feet out.
“Nope, just gave Impulse coords and said to meet him there.” Pearl responded not amused by her friend’s antics.
“That’s Doc for you.” Grian said leaning back onto his hands stretching a little. “Cryptic or just him busy in his work, you will never know.” Grian said as he sat back up wiggling his fingers around a little for dramatics.
“I feel harassed.” Pearl joked, jabbing at the larger avian beside her. He just laughed at her, causing the tiny to turn and kick him.
“Ohhh, okay that’s it little missy c’mere.” Grian got to his feet quickly and gently cupped the smaller avian in his hands as she tried to escape.
Pearl flapped her wings fiercely against his arms, but the years of building and gripping left her with no effect on Grian. He had her tucked tightly to his chest making the smaller avian glare up at him. The larger builder laughed before letting her go.
“So what are you doing today pearl?” Mumbo asked the smaller, turning her attention away from her taller brother.
“Interior mostly, what about you guys?”
“Just hanging out, we need to take a break for a little. Also-” Grian turns to look at Mumbo, “No, not happening.” The shifter sighed, crossing his arms and looking the other way.
“You're no fun.” Mumbo grumbled, Grian just shook his head disappointedly.
“What?” Pearl asked, confused once again at the actions of the taller folk.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” Grian said, “Besides, don't you have some Interior to work on?” Grian teased, it was obvious he didn’t want to talk about it, so pearl didn’t push the topic.
“Yes I do.” She said sitting up and stretching her wings quickly adding “And don’t you have a bak to finish?” Pearl smirked at the offended face he made. She then pushed off the ground and started the flight to her mega base before Grian chased her again.
So she worked, and she worked, adding small bits, but keeping enough space for any Giant’s that wanted to visit. She had been working for about an hour when she heard a ding from her communicator.
The sound of the ding suggested it was from global chat so at first she ignored it. Then there were two dings, one almost exactly after the other. She then stopped what she was doing and when another sounded she finally pulled it out.
Her eyes widened at what she saw, panicked messages filled up the chat. They all had one thing in common, Doc’s name. Pearl flinched as a shadow fell over here. Flipping herself around to the window she relaxed when she saw it was Grian.
She pointed down towards the door and he nodded, getting off the ledge he flew down, pearl did the same going to meet him. Grian had gotten inside by the time Pearl reached the bottom floor.
“Did you see chat?” Grian asked, the smaller avian could see how the larger’s feathers were fluffed out.
“Yea, I was just reading it as you came.”
“Okay, power it off and hide, find a small hole or something, just HIDE.” Grian’s tone was serious Pearl didn’t blame him though.
“What about you?” She asked worried, Grian could- no has done many stupid things when he was scared.
“I’m going to see if I can find others.” Grian responded, there was a look in his eyes, a look of pain. Pearl knew exactly what he was thinking, and there was no way she could convince him not to.
“Just be careful, okay?” Grian nodded, giving her his best smile he could muster at the moment.
“I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try my best.” He responded, pushing the doors open and his wings started to pull off his back.
The smaller avian ran after her brother as he took off. When Pearl got outside the door’s Grian had already nearly flown clear of Boatem. She knew he was fast, but it was still shocking to see him get that far that quickly.
She took one last glance over Boatem before flying around to the back of her house. Taking a bit of water she poured it onto some dirt, shivering as she started to wipe the mud onto her clothes and face hoping to mask her scent.
She then flew up her mountain looking for small holes she missed. she ended up picking out one on the upper side of the mountain, making escaping any direction easier if it came down to it.
When she settled in she pulled out her Communicator and powered it off, so if someone was to send a message it wouldn't go off. Though that also served her connection to updates on the location of Doc. Doc was one smart cookie so she wouldn't be surprised if he also shut off or left his communicator somewhere else.
Pearl had only sat there for a few minutes and she was very paranoid. The air felt stuffier, her breath felt warmer and she had to stop herself from checking outside the hole a few times already.
So she waited some more, her mind going back to what she could do with the Interior while she waited. When she finally snapped back into reality she had a really strong feeling to look outside. Pearl knew she shouldn’t but she did, and she froze. Doc was walking through Boatem, his path shown by broken trees and dents in the ground.
The avian finally managed to move back into the cave and she quickly covered her mouth with her hands. Her wings had been flushed huge as they moved around her body protectively. It didn’t help that Doc called out for her.
“Oh pearly, Impulse misses you.” The giant creeper sang out searching for the smaller bird hybrid. She wanted to cry, her heartbeat quickened and her breathing became sporadic. She could hear as he dug around the buildings and sniffed for her.
She felt like a kid again in a way, when they would all play giant. Everyone knew all the hiding spots back then, to not be found was a miracle. Right now she feels that same way, the moving of his swift yet silent feet made it the worst.
“Peaarrrrl.” He called out again as if she was just going to show her face. What scared her the most though is he seemed to have climbed up to the top of the mountain she was in without her noticing. It made Pearl’s stomach churn, she held back a gag trying to stay silent. She watched a shadow cover her hole as he passed over her going down the hill.
At least she thought so, “oh hi.” Doc’s voice changed into one of excitement. Pearl flicked her head up, a giant eye was staring into the dirt hole. She could feel the giant’s body shifting around outside her ‘burrow’ getting into prime position.
A huge clawed hand dug into the dirt that surrounded her, this happened to shimmy a rock that came crashing down on Pearl’s wing. The little avian bit her cheeks and pushed the stone off just as the giant creeper had removed the dirt.
Doc poked a few fingers into the open hole nudging the avain out, who panicked. Her arms and wings pushed back against his claws while her talons dug into the dirt. It had no effect, the fingers pushed her to the edge where a pair of giant jaws was waiting underneath.
She turned around grabbing onto one of the oversized fingers, this caused Doc to smile a bit as he gently pushed her off. She tried to flap her wings but it hurt too much, so she screamed trying not to cry. Then she felt something warm and soft surround her and air whooshing past.
Pearl was surprised when she didn’t feel any saliva, so when she opened her eyes and saw hands she was surprised. Turning around she saw the glimpse of a familiar red sweater.
“Grian?” She asked looking up, at the sound of his name he looked down giving the startled smaller avian a smile.
“Hey, sorry I wasn't here earlier.” He stopped as he pushed himself off to the side avoiding a giant green hand that reached for him. “I got a message from Mumbo and headed back as fast as I could because I couldn't find anyone in the general area.”
“Griannn.~” Doc sang out the larger avian's name with a slightly bitter tone at the end as the flew over the mountain and just out of his reach again. The parrot avian’s eyes darted to the Creeper behind him a little as he climbed down the mountain.
“Do you think-” Pearl didn’t want to finish her sentence but the look on Grian’s face told her exactly what she wished it hadn’t. Grian swerved to doge another attempt from Doc, his eyes stuck on the creeper behind them.
Pearl looked ahead of them letting out a scream “Grian watch out.” The avain turned his head quickly realizing they were heading towards Mumbo’s base he turned facing towards Impulses, Doc had won though.
A Hand shot up in front of them causing Grian to stop fluttering backwards to avoid his fingers. He tried to turn around but as soon as he did the creeper's mouth was over them. Pearl clung to Grian’s shirt as he tried to dive but it was too slow so he pulled his wings around his body to protect him and pearl as the creeper closed his jaws around them.
Doc’s tongue was upon them almost instantly but Grian flew up avoiding it. One good thing about Doc's size was he had a big mouth making it really hard to control the avians. Grian smacked his body against Doc’s gums hoping to hurt the giant a little, but not too badly. The parrot did it again after the first time seeming to have no effect. Still nothing, he backed up figuring out the position but instead doc came to him.
Grian felt the creeper's large teeth connect with his shoulder and some of his back, throwing him to the ground. Pearl nearly yelled again as she felt his protective arms loosen and fall off her body. Both of them slid slightly and Doc’s tongue started to lift but Grian stood up cupping Pearl and floating down before he could swallow.
A hiss echoed from the nearby throat making the two avians head flick towards it for a second. “Let us- no LET EVERYONE OUT DOC!!!” Grian screamed, but him being distracted made Doc swing his tongue at the parrot hybrid forcing him suspended in the air against the creeper's teeth.
The larger avain pulled Pearl up higher so she wasn’t suffocated by the muscle before Grian using his talons, pushed the soaking muscle off of them. They slid to the ground which thankfully wasn’t that far and the parrot was back on his feet managing to jump over the tongue as it went for him again.
Doc caught the avians off guard when his tongue flipped back around and smushed Grian into the floor of his mouth. The larger avain panted as he used his feet to push the massive muscle off of Pearl once again. Doc pushed back trying to lick at Grian’s face which the avian turned to the side to avoid getting slobber all over it.
Grian flipped over onto his shoulder making him yelp but using his stronger arm he pushed back against the tongue tip more keeping it from going in his face. The slippery texture and surface caused the large avain’s feet to slide causing his talons to slice the tongue on accident. It swiftly was removed from the two after it happened.
Grian stumbled a little but managed to stand up, his legs were sore from pushing all the weight they weren't used to. A light painting also could be heard leaving his mouth, pearl could hear his fast beating heart. His injured shoulder hung slightly downwards as the large avian tried not to use it.
Doc quickly swung his head again pushing against the avian's wings, back and legs causing Gian to tumble onto his not painful side. He tried to stand but easily crumbled as the creeper’s tongue dug itself under his tired and sore body.
Pearl could feel the bumps where Doc’s tastebuds must be, thankfully even though sore, Grian used his arms to push up and off Doc's tongue a little so she wasn't crushed.
The larger avian couldn’t fight it as the tongue started to go up, but before it went up to swallow it fell back down. Instead Grian was pushed off, pearl couldn’t get a grip and also fell but as soon as the two were shimmied off the parrot avian was pushed gently up against the creeper's teeth.
Pearl could only watch in horror as her brother was licked his body, ragdolling with the movements of the tongue. She could hear a pleased sigh leave the creeper's throat and it made her sick. The smaller avian got up and started making her way over, if Grian was going to fight from her she’d do the same.
“Don’t.” Grian warned his voice was weak and a little raspy given little time between the harsh licking Doc was giving him. She had to look away as the tongue pushed him back against the teeth again with little effort when the parrot tried to reach his arm out to his sister.
Pearl froze as slightly as colder air hit her. Doc had opened his mouth for a second but quickly closed his lips looking back towards her beaten sibling she choked on a scream. The creeper had pushed Grian’s better arm between his teeth and was very gently chewing on it.
The avian himself had tears streaming down his face but was biting his lip to keep from actually letting any noise out. His injured arm pathetically reached out and pushed against the Giant’s teeth before flopping down uselessly.
A chuckle made its way up from the cyborg's throat. This made pearl turn and using her talons she kicked at the Doc’s gums before she heard a pained cry from the person beside her. “PEARL DON’T!!”
The smaller turned and saw the world eater's teeth had stopped moving up and down, now resting on Grian’s good atm. He wasn't biting down thankfully but Pearl backed away from the gums slowly, eyes never leaving the scared expression her brother wore. That face was now burned into the back of her mind; she could never forgive Doc for this, no way in a million years.
The Giant returned to gnawing on her brother’s arm, this made Pearl look away. She could hear the muffled cries of her brother as the creeper taunted him with his teeth. After 4 minutes or so, and the random placements of the body between the giant’s teeth, the bigger avian was placed back on the slightly saliva covered floor. Doc instead pushed him up against the roof of his mouth.
It took everything in pearl not to throw up as she heard what she assumed was a sucking noise as the creeper slowly moved the edge of his tongue back and forwards over her pride-ridden brother. The only thing that came out of Grian’s mouth was the grunts and groans of pain when the tongue pushed back on his hurt shoulder.
This continued for a while. Peal covered her ears trying to Ignore it and she felt herself cry too. Finally when Grian was placed back on the floor, his eyes seemed much duller.
The larger avian started to try and get up once again his sore body shook. He reached out for Pearl, but the creeper’s tongue found itself around him. Some light shed back into his eyes as he seemed to try and push it off but he was just too tired and too beaten.
Doc continued to lick, he placed the parrot avian on the ground before pushing at him with the tip of his tongue playinging and even tormenting him with a fake swallow or two. Pearl couldn't do much; her feet were frozen to the ground. The thick spit that was slowly making its way around her was getting to her though, and it was probably the same for Doc.
Grian was pushed into a lying position, once again he reached out for Pearl who pushed her way through the mini sea of saliva that had built up. Grian’s hands pulled her out when she was close enough. Even though he wasn’t dry almost at all she gladly accepted the hug he gave to her. Doc’s tongue rose up pinning both the avain’s to the giant’s hard palate.
Grian’s back was smacked a little hard into the roof of his mouth, the smaller avian heard a ariy gasp leave his mouth. Pearl’s head started to spin a little as she heard a gulp. She was confused though when nothing to the both of them. They heard a sigh leave the creeper's throat and his head tilted back removing his tongue from beneath them Grian fell, his arms loosening their grip around the smaller bird who just clung onto him tighter.
Their descent stopped, but soon after a loud gulp sounded and Pearl could see the light fade but it never went completely. Looking up from the red sweater she saw her brother had stopped their descent almost completely. His arms pressed her close to his body while his legs stuck out against one side of creeper’s throat and his wings pushed against the other.
“F-fly back out, when Doc swallows me I’m sure he’d-” Grian got cut off by a grunt, “open his mouth again.” Pearl looked at him as best as she could, a few tears trickled down her face.
“I-I can’t my wing got hi-” she was cut off by an attempted swallow that managed to move them down a little, but not much farther. This made the Giant let out a small cough, and a pissed hiss.
“He accidentally injured my wing earlier, I don’t think I could make it out.” Grian looked startled and a little sad, moving his eyes to the walls and back up.
“You think you could climb?” Grian asked, grasping at straws at this point. The larger grunted as a hand tried to push at him but he kept his stability and pushed back.
“I-I, I don’t know.” She said when it calmed down. Her brother seemed terrified now, he was so concerned for her, for everyone.
“I-” The parrot avian was cut off by a gentle punch from the outside making his feet slip. Doc realized this and gave a strong swallow, Pearl screamed and Grian did his best to curl around her. Their descent stopped again after a long pull. The smaller avian thought he could hear the voices of the other boatem members, one or two others more as well. They both heard the gulp long before it hit them, and after one short squeeze they fell.
The larger avian made sure he landed on his back which made him let out a grunt and his arms slipped off of pearl on accident. She went sliding out, stopping the conversation around them. “G-grian? Pearl?” Mumbo’s voice asked seemingly shocked, Pearl didn’t answer instead she ran over to her brother who was struggling to stand up.
“H-hey guys.” Grian managed to get out, he could barely get to a sitting position. The smaller avian was on him almost instantly, panicked.
“What happened to you?” Cleo asked from the other side of the large fleshy room, Pearl tried to ignore it, but it was very hard as it squished under her feet. “You look like crap.”
The nightjar avian bit her lip trying not to snap at the naga right now. Grian distracted her by using his hand to push her over to him, and gave the best smile he could mister at the moment to her. He looked up to Cleo. “Trust me I feel like it.”
“Something happen with Doc?” X, who pearl didn’t even realize was in the stomach with them asked.
“Yeah well-.” The little avian’s shaking cut him off, she didn’t realize she was doing it. Grian’s hands gently picked her small form up and she curled up in his cupped hands. “Pearl?” she felt a soft comforting hand stroke gently against her uninjured wing. She nuzzled her head into his hand, spreading her wings and leaning into the strokes.
She felt as her ruffled feathers were smoothed into place, a loose one was gently pulled out. Pearl let her body relax between the soft beating of her larger brother’s heart and the soft loving preening; she forgot about the situation until Cleo spoke back up.
“What exactly happened?” Her voice had a worried tone to it, seeing as how Pearl seemed to react. Grian kept up the preening but his eyes lifted to the naga.
“I resisted, also tried to get you guys out while I was at it, Doc wasn’t into the idea though.” Grian took a deep breath in holding it for a second before responding. “So he beat me down till I could barely stand.”
Shocked voices echoed from all sides of the room. “I, you Grian are you-”
“I’m okay, sore but okay.” The parrot hybrid opened his mouth to say more but didn’t. The smaller avian surprised when he left out the part about the sucking and licking.
“That’s our Grian though, stubborn as ever. Wouldn’t have it any other way.” The taller builder laughed at that, his heart slowing to a more normal pace.
Pearl curled up, she could feel the tears in her eyes. Pearl zoned out only listening to hear, “Yeah he wasn’t hard to get down, I just had to coil around him a few times.” It was from Cleo who was most definitely smiling, she also had a challenging tone.
“You guys struggled with Grian?” Pearl felt her heart stop at impulse’s, what were they talking about?
“Yea, man’s wild wont go down without a good fight.” Mumbo responded, “You’ve had him the most out of all of us, doesn't he struggle at all with you?”
“I uh, no actually the first time we did it, Gem was trying to convince me. Grian was asleep at the time but I didn’t want to not after y’know.” Pearl saw him gesture to Mumbo who turned away ashamed. “But he woke up and honestly kinda forced his way into his mouth.”
“YOU DID WHAT!!!!???” Pearl shouted to Grian whose feathers shot up and he looked away from the tiny bird in his hands embarrassed.
“I- uh.” The taller parrot couldn’t answer, he shut his mouth and bit his lips. This whole time Grian’s been getting swallowed left and right, and never brought it up to his sister. Pearl squeezed her hands on one of his fingers curling her wings as much as she could around herself.
The hermits arguing in the background started to die off. They turned to Grian, he wasn’t the one crying though. It was Pearl, the loud obviously scared and loud sobs, Grian was giving her comforting words, or as much as he could.
“Pearl?” Impulse’s voice called out to her. Her brother unfolded his wings a little, showing off a shrunken impulse. He wasn’t his usual 42 feet, instead he was somewhere around 13.
He slowly stood up, the smaller avian's eyes were clouded but she could see as he swayed when Doc took a sharp turn. When the swaying lessened he started to come closer, getting down on his knees he reached out a hand to Pearl.
The tiny avian took one of his fingers in both her own hands and pushed her head into it crying still. “I’m so sorry, I tried to warn you guys, False, Hypno and Iskall tried their best to stall Doc so I could reach the communicators.”
“How did you shrink?” Cleo asked confused, she seemed pretty happy though being the largest in the room.
“Doc did this.” Impulse chuckled in shame, Ironic how Pearl guessed something was up and they all just laughed it off.
“I-I, please I don’t want to die like this.” She begged, Grian shifted upwards instantly yelping as he pulled on his back causing him to curl up a little and Impulse pulled his finger away not trying to crush her.
“P-please Grian, please.” She pulled herself closer burying her face in her brother's sleeve. “Please, I don’t want to end up like Taurtis.”
“Who?” Mumbo asked, but when he reached out to touch Grian’s shoulder the bird's wings folded around himself.
“I-I promise Pearl, even if it kills me I’m not letting that happen again.” Her brother's voice sounded broken, he never would recover from that loss.
“Who’s Taurtis?” Mumbo asked, once again ignored by the siblings as they cuddled and cried for a little.
“GUYS!!” Mumbo shouted and got their attention. “Who is Taurtis?” Pearl froze looking up at her brother who looked like he was going to be sick.
“C-can I?” Pearl asked the taller avian who nodded yes. She then turned to the hermits, “H-he was our- well Grian’s best friends b-before a giant well, you know.” The hermits attention changed to the parrot avian who covered his face in one of his wings.
“I-, oh pants, I’m so sorry Grian.” The avian’s claws pressed against the smaller until he heard a quiet grunt from her. He whispered an apology to Pearl who gave him a sympathetic look. Both of them could tell though the other hermits didn’t ask, but they really wanted to know.
“I well, how do I-”
“We were raised on a food farm.” Grian said his voice steely, he didn't want the pity, but he knew it was coming. “I found out because I went somewhere I wasn’t supposed to. I overheard their plans.” The parrot avian sighed trying not to let his voice shake as he spoke. “I planned an escape, and I- he- Taurtis got caught by a giant on the way out.” As he finished his sentence tears burst from his eyes.
Pearl felt as she got squished into her brother's sweater some more, turning her head she saw the black suit of Mumbo. Who when she looked up had pulled her brother into his arms, a hand placed against the back of the parrot hybrid’s head, petting Grian’s hair. The redstoner must have felt her staring because his eyes caught her gaze and she looked away.
She heard another sob soon, and it wasn’t Pearl or Grian, her brother was muted as his face soaked Mumbo’s shoulder. Looking back up the smaller avian saw that the mustached man was crying himself. A large arm reached around the 3 of them, it was impulse, he also left his palm flat for Pearl to climb onto. She did just that and when she did she could see the server admin approaching. Impulse moved his arm inviting X in who gladly joined in the hug pile.
Pearl wasn’t sure if it was jer because of where she stood now but she swore her brother was crying even louder. Climbing Up impulses arm she reached out and hugged his arm letting out the best purr she could between her own sobs.
Cleo came last, a tiny Joe in her hands who joined Pearl, but he was hugging her instead of her brother. She looked at him confused, wiping the snot from her face. “You look like you need one too.” He answered for her, she let out a small huf.
“Thanks.” Looking around she could see Cleo’s tail, and honestly she didn’t like it. Being a nocturnal bird her eyes could see the pulsing walls around her, so she tried to turn her attention back to the group.
Grian had now reached out and his wings went to work around hugging everyone else. “I thought they were Illegal.” Mumbo said? Asked? Pearl couldn't get a good read on his tone.
“It doesn't matter, people have money.” X said, voice being slightly covered up by Grian’s sniffles. The parrot avian then moved back to sit back up wincing while doing so Mumbo went to reach for him again but was stopped by the builder. He whipped away his tears, partly upset with himself for actually crying in front of them.
He sighed, eyes not looking up to anyone else's. Pearl climbed up his shoulder and nestled herself by his neck in which he turned to look at her and started to scratch underneath her wings. She couldn't hold back the loud purr that escaped her. She was glad though, because it made Grian smile.
“Sorry, but uh yea mmm.” Grian started but when he stopped Mumbo spoke up again.
“Was he the one that made you purr a lot?” Pearl looked over to Grian, confused who was shocked too.
“You remember that?” Grian asked, his voice matched his face in shock. “But yeah, he was.” the builder gave a sad smile looking down as if his tiny friend would just appear in front of him.
Mumbo shifted around to sit on the other side of Grian from Pearl. The larger avian placed his head on the redstoner's shoulder. “Are you going to be okay?” Mumbo asked, the look in his eyes shone strongly with concern.
Grian eyes drifted back to Pearl who looked back up at him. He then looked around to the other members. “I- well are you guys going to be okay?” Grian asked in response, all heads looked over to the parrot avians then amongst another one at a time they nodded or said yea. Grian looked back at Pearl.
“As long as we aren't sent deeper, I think I’ll be okay.” She responded, she hated it here and that wasn't going to change. She wasn’t alone though, and it was very nice to know she wasn't.
