What's up with these tiny pictures on Tumblr?
Dart frogs laid eggs a few days ago, and yesterday or the other day, they started developing little heads and stubby tails. I took these pictures through a jewelers loupe with a light on it.
And here's a bonus bug I found swimming on top of one. Don't worry, it is harmless. I took these ones via microscope which was a lot harder to focus and to take pictures through than the loupe.
And today, they started to develop gills! They're these weird branch like structures on the sides of their head, and it appears that they have two on each side, one much smaller than the other. Represents a weird time in amphibian and frog development and evolution, but super cool nonetheless. I have no idea what the gills turn into later.
The tadpoles are squirming around now, their tails longer and pointier, their nutrient belly bags noticeably smaller now. Their development is speeding up as they grow bigger! It is such a cool process to watch and document.
Eventhough I am running out of space I made another one. It's just to much fun. This time made made something from monster hunter. I never drew my favorite monster so I thought it was about time
(left to right): Star Man, Dark Vest, Boomerang Pants, Jumps Over Chinup Bar Man.
Meet my newest friend, a female orange bee shrimp, laden with eggs (this is called being berried in the hobby, for obvious reasons). I got her because it's like getting a ton of shrimp for the price of one. I also cleaned my hanging on side tank, changed out the substrate, and moved my anubias onto some pots because the rock it was growing in was getting covered in evil algae. Eventually I'll have to find a breeder who will sell me some more shrimp to avoid the inevitable inbreeding issue, but that's something for future me to figure out lol.
Hmm remind me never to update anything ever again
Support your local artist: I feel like I got a present for the autumn/fall equinox, because this arrived with the mail today.😍
Alantya creates tiny pictures, book marks and other artworks. And no, it wasn't a present by the artist, I bought these artworks to support Alantya. By the way, on the book mark, there is a mysterious person or spirit wandering into the woods, but you can only see it when the light is right and I love this detail. Alantya is on Instagram: https://instagram.com/alantyas_artwork/ and Facebook: https://facebook.com/alantyasartwork
I made another necklace. I painted directly on it. It's a lot of fun painting tiny pictures.
