Deep sea creatures

On the flight up, we briefly shared airspace with one of these: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_C-5_Galaxy It felt approximately like being a scuba diver crossing paths with a whale shark. We watched it do a touch and go landing at a military airstrip (where the plane lands, accelerates on the runway, and takes back off without stopping), puffs of white smoke sprouting from the tires as it touched the runway, and it was lazy and graceful and looked like it weighed nothing at all. This morning, the dude read up on it in Wikipedia, and said "It has a fuel load of 51,000 gallons... That's 130 tons of fuel. That's one of my father's train cars, converted to fuel and dumped into the plane, in weight. Okay, the numbers associated with this plane are stupid."

On a flight back to NYC.

Tiny plane. But I'm excited to go back and spend the weekend in NYC. New York weekend with my boyfriend. Definitely excited.
