I would like to know more things that have a character that is a very badass woman and, in my opinion, truly feminist character, in a very beautiful heavily Victorian (inspired) world with some horror elements and beautiful music who is very organised and efficient and for some reason either irl or in my brain is almost always portrayed by Mia Wasikowska. I would very much like more of that.
Unpopular opinion: Bram Stoker's Dracula, the 1992 film, is the worst adaptation of Dracula, offering only fanservice and stripping Mina of even more of her agency than Stoker himself did.
That’s a popular opinion, I have never encountered a Dracula book fan who didn’t hate that version with the wrath of a thousand suns.

I am delighted to find that Tumblr is now as obsessed with Dracula as I am. I shall now unleash some of my thoughts. First and foremost, in a movie or series adaptation of the book, I would like Dracula to be portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter.
what is an Englishman? a miserable little pile of xenophobia and poor spice tolerance
we’re reading Dracula for one of my book clubs, and I completely forgot that the book starts out as quite an enjoyable travelogue—having just passed the bar exam, Jonathan Harker is essentially on his first real business trip, and keeps making little notes to ask for recipes, or that he’ll share such-and-such about the landscape with Mina.
I also forgot that Jonathan Harker has a Kodak camera (he used it to take pictures of the London estate for Dracula) which leads me to assume that the 21st century version of Jonathan Harker’s journal is actually a series of instagram posts that start getting really, really weird.
I think the funniest possible modern textual adaptation of Dracula would be Jonathan as a part time recipe blogger and you have to scroll through 10 paragraphs of the most harrowing thing you’ve ever read in your life just to get the recipe for paprika hendl
it’s always ‘why did you go to the creepy vampire castle despite the fact every villager tried to warn you not to’ and never ‘how was the vampire castle?’ or ‘the vampire castle looked fun was it fun?’
Tiny plane
