tiny scientist// miriel + matthew

Miriel blinked. In a moment she was spending time in the dungeon checking on the festivities that occurred and the next thing she knew she was staring at the table leg. The only thing different was that the table leg seemed to be the size of a pillar. Inspecting her surroundings, it seemed that everything had grown - or perhaps… she had shrunk.

She quickly shuffled over to the table leg to prevent being stepped on, once she saw there were other people walking about. Was it a spell? A curse? What had happened?! Checking her satchel, Miriel gave a sigh of relief once she felt the familiar bag on her. At least then she can write down her experiences. Thankfully, Miriel is a calm patient scholar who takes these disturbances with a grain of salt. 

Instead, she cupped her hands and shouted, “HELLO! I REQUIRE SOME ASSISTANCE!”

Bloody dungeon and its bloody scarecrows and monsters and bloody labyrinthine make... Grumbling 'neath his breath, Matthew poked his head into yet another room and lent an ear, hoping to hear some hint of the festivities so near and yet far away.

Instead, he found he heard a solitary voice - small and yet strong all the same, and yet... Where...?

Ah. There.

He had to squint, so uncertain was he of just what he saw before him. The moment of hesitation did not last, however, and soon saw him striding towards the impossibly tiny woman. Crouching down in front of her, the thief lay his wrists over his knees and arched a brow in question.

"Hey there," he offered casually by way of greeting. A frown dipped his brow. Proximity would not offer any additional clues, it seemed - she was just as puzzling up close as from afar. "Skillful illusion you've got going on there."

Good enough to make him question just how many drinks he'd already had tonight, and if now was maybe a good time to rein it back. Hm...

What if spiders are all scientists in the insect world and when they come into our houses they’re actually just observing human behavior the same way we observe them in their habitat and when we kill one the others mark it down and note that humans are aggressive giants who are just killing these tiny scientists.
