Whenever Will was out of danger in s1 he was wearing blue, white and orange

blue: imagination, inspiration, sensitivity, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, intelligence

white: peacefulness, innocence, purity

orange: passion, positivity, youthfulness, energy, happiness, creativity

While being at the center of the whole season, Will isn’t actually all that much in it so it was really important to have all of his few scenes properly convey his character in a way that makes the audience understand how great he is and why everyone wants to have him back so badly. And so having him wear blue, white and orange in his flashback-scenes really subtly brings out his characteristics. The colors let the audience experience for themselves how the other characters feel when Will is around. Along with the context of the flashback-scenes, the colors provide an insight into who Will was before he got kidnapped and deeply traumatized so the colors also convey a sense of safety and everything being alright. Using those colors again in Will’s clothes after he’s back home carries that sense of everything being okay with them and it really makes the audience know that Will is finally safe and okay again.The colors essentially support the depiction of Will’s character and therefore help the audience to get to know him in s1.
