Inktober day 5: Gef the Talking Mongoose, aka the Cashen's Gap Spook. As a child, David was obsessed with the Usborne Book of Ghosts (recently republished) which had a whole section on Gef, the mysterious spirit said to haunt a farmhouse on the Isle of Man, UK in the 1930s - many visitors to the farmhouse reported hearing the mongoose voice and interacting with it, including several 'Ghost hunters'. The haunting seemed to focus around a 13 year old girl called Voirrey. It's a compelling tale and there's no better account than the book 'Gef! The Strange Tale of an Extra-Special Talking Mongoose' (ISBN 9781907222481), by Christopher Josiffe

Inktober Day 17: Amphibian Me Time. What could be nicer for a frog than a relaxing bath, a good book, and a pipe full of rhubarb tobacco after a hard day jumping about by the pond

Inktober Day 14: A Wizened Wizard. Wizards should be wizened, or how would you know if they're wise? There's something of the Gandalf about this one.

Inktober day 13: A spell to find lost cats. It also has a handy side-effect of cursing cat abusers. May you never need to use it.

Inktober Day 12: A deeply unflattering portrait of Tiffany, aka 'Studio Kitty' cleaning herself on the stairs at eye-level. I believe the term is legs akimbo. If she sees this, she'll get us to delete it.
