Hello :D I was wondering, how do you make outlining not look so harsh and out of place when it comes to digital art?
So for lines my style (1), for lines to not look hard I depend a lot on the how hard I push my pen down on my tablet ex.
So if you don’t want your lines to look too harsh put less pressure on your pen.
But there are other ways to make your lines appear more softer like this is my line art layer rn right?
you add skin color
then make a new layer on top of the line layer and clip the layer and add colors to the line.
that usually helps with making the lines look less harsh. I also suggest not using black for lines :000
For painting wise
there’s two ways to go for this. You can do lines or clean sketch then do flats under that layer and paint on top of it like this.
Or you can have a sketch/ line layer. Lower the opacity of the sketch/line layer as light as you can go I would suggest around 15% -20%. Then make a new layer under the line layer so that you can start to painting. Since your relying on painting shapes along with contrast and colors to make the painting. Instead of the sketch/ line to paint. Basically this method for me relies more on colors and contrast to separate what is what in the painting .
Ex.
Look as you can see the sketch layer is still on but you can’t really see it right??
Line layer is still o n top of the painting for those two^^^^^
its now on the bottom. Basically I use the sketch as a guide. I don’t follow the sketch after a while. But doing this in a way makes you paint the what needs a rough edge and what needs a softer touch to it :))
OTL h opefully this makes sense orz I can get confusing lmk if you need me to clarify anything haha
