HIM WHISTLING??? GOSH HE IS SO CUTE
I have a job interview tomorrow at chilis for a server position and I’ve never worked in the restaurant business- please wish me luck 😭😭
truly dont know how you grow on tumblr posting only ocs... someone has some tips?? maybe it has something to do with the proper use of tags... but idk
If you don't mind me asking, how long is it between the prologue and chapter 6 of Kochab? I've seen people arguing how long the time frame is for Kochab, and frankly, I'm confused, haha. 😅
also, do you have any tips for aspiring comic artists? I've seen a few asks about it before, but I was just wondering if you had tips on drawing/writing about characters/rooms/settings.
thank you and have a good night! good luck on the print version of Kochab, I really hope it goes well!
I don't think it's too important a detail (I like the idea of it being fairytale/fairy land-time !) but I was thinking at least 1-2 weeks pass.
that's a hard one to answer! I think something that helped me was doing concept art and sketches to figure out what character moments/moods/settings/events I really wanted to include in the comic. The moments that are the most fun to write/draw are the ones that I have a really exciting vision for/vivid mood, and want to figure out by getting onto paper.
I also usually start chapter thumbnails by doodling what I'm most excited about in the chapter/any cool visual metaphors I really want to use/the most important character moments, and having that as a mini-moodboard to keep me focused on what's important is helpful. :)
Even more general, I think having a big folder full of favourite art/inspirations for a particular project is the biggest help whenever I'm feeling stuck in writing or design.
thank you!! i really hope it goes well too. good night! 🌜✨
ughhhhhhhhhh why is this one soooo hard?? I've tried like more than a dozen times now. even with Xavier cheating and Rafayel buying more chances. Succulent bunbun doesn't want to come home with me! Has anyone gotten it yet? Any tips?
If not ZAYNE! You're my only hope now. Freeze it!
does uhhh anyone have any tips on how to wear a safety pin? like not on a necklace? and so it blends in more with clothing and isn't just. there. ykkk??
Hiiii!! I just came across your art and I absolutely love it! You’re so talented!! I especially love the way you draw Hobie. Do you have any tips or tricks on how to draw his wicks? I’ve always had trouble with tricky 3D forms like that TwT
THANK YOU 🌈💕
oh my god hello!!! welcome in! thank you so much!!??
of course, obligatory i'm not black, don't claim to be, nor have experience with this hairstyle in the wild. always ask your friends or other black people in your life about how their hair works if you're comfortable and be sure to do at least a cursory google every now and again!
fun fact, i actually nailed his wicks down in my artstyle by drawing him in animal crossing! (idr if i posted it here or not but)
the main idea is to focus on loose shapes? i mean like, thats mostly how i do it
i focus on a shit-like structure (thats such a bad way of saying it but like, it's. its true) and then add little details into it. it also depends on ur artstyle
my best advice would be to ask ur local black people for better tips! and if you don't have any, look up PLENTY of reference images!
but all in summary, think of tubes. cylinders that come out of the head! you can also look at the actual 3D model that Hobie has for a better idea!
notice how his hair kinda tapers out at the end? it's also to create an actual shape with his hair since otherwise he would have something closer to irl, which is actually not great for creating shape language (but thats for another time).
but anyways it's good to make sure your viewer knows that his wicks are 3D and have dimension or at least yk.... make sure people don't think you drew him with an afro
your way of drawing hobie might not be my way of drawing hobie! and that's okay! because people r different and we like different things! this is just what works for me :3
ANYGAYS!!
thank you for reading through this i guess... thank you for asking!! i hope my rambling helped in any way! good luck on your hobie art <333 (tell me so i can go feral over it)
