If you've experienced higher than usual bills, check your Facebook settings as it could be down to its video auto-play
Not only it's costing people money, it's plain annoying. Many of the established mainstream site does it as well, even in their Browser version of the web site.
Top Apps to Keep Yourself Connected
Today’s world runs on immediacy, where instant gratification is the ideal. After all, if you cannot find a factoid, then you Google for it. If you want to know more about something, there’s always a wiki about it somewhere (aside from the main Wikipedia site, that is). That’s how it works online now, and you shouldn’t be left behind. Here are some helpful tips to keep you plugged in, connected... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]] http://dlvr.it/3mNGZt
Accessing Western Digital NetCenter Password Protected Shares from Windows 7 (64 bit)
Update
I recently purchased a Toshiba R705-P35 (i3, 4GB) and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and as it turned out the secpol.msc is not available in that version of Win 7. Fortunately, a colleague of mine pointed out that the procedure described in the previous post only creates or updates a registry entry, if one already exists. Below is the procedure that works in all versions of Win 7 and tested with 64 bit Win 7 professional and home premium.
Run the registry editor and open this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
If it doesn’t already exist, create a DWORD value named LmCompatibilityLevel
Set the value to 1

Hiding From Google
"If you're not paying for something, you're not the customer; you're the product being sold." —blue_beetle, Metafilter discussion.
Google started off the new year by announcing that they will be changing their privacy policies so that they can create more detailed profiles of their users. Starting March 1st, 2012, Google will combineinformation from user’s Gmail, Google Search history, YouTube, and other services. Prior to this change, Google profiled their users, but restricted the profile data use to the service from which the data was collected.
Because we have come to rely on web services so much in our day-to-day activities, it simply isn't an option to stop using search, webmail, and social networking. But there are ways for heavy users to keep a low profile so that, should Google turn decidedly evil, you won't be completely at their mercy. If you are concerned about the amount of information that Google knows about you for whatever reason, here are some techniques you can use to guard your privacy online.
This how-to was written by Ari Douglas, an engineer-turned-lawyer, who spends his time contemplating the nexus between law, technology, and society.

Windows has this hidden folder thru which you can control any setting of your OS. How do you create one? Here are the steps:
Create a new folder on desktop
Name that folder: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} (you can name this folder whatever you want)
Open the newly created folder

Email Tips
If I had to pick one feature of Our Strata that I like the most, it would be the email functionality. Almost everything that can be done on the web can also be done via email which makes managing your body corporate or owners corporation on-the-go a synch.
Here is a quick summary of a few of the features:
Starting discussions You can start a discussion by simply emailing your strata address such as [email protected]. You’ll need to ensure you include both a subject and message body.
Replying to a discussion To reply to a discussion from an email notification, just press reply and type away. That’s it. To reply from a new email, either include the discussion number as a hashtag in the subject line, eg #1234, or include it in the to address, eg [email protected].
Tagging You can automatically file discussions and set their privacy by adding hashtags to the subject line. For example, to file a discussion under maintenance and ensure that only owners & managers could see it, you would include the following hash tags anywhere in the subject line:
#maintenance #owners #managers
Signature blocks When reading your email, Our Strata will attempt to remove any previous messages and signature blocks to prevent adding information twice. You can also tell Our Strata to stop reading any further by add — or ——- (that’s 2 or 5 hyphens) which tells Our Strata to ignore the rest of the email.
