I’d love to say that we kept continuing this daily but hey life gets busy and when you’re in a certain lifestyle, you can’t help but stick to it. We probably went on like this for a week before new dancers came into work. Another girl for Karn to give his perks to. He stopped putting girls he fucked first on stage though, thankfully. We still dabbled in what we had here and there but we both understood that it wasn’t long term.

I knew my soulmate wasn’t the owner of a club.

“Excuse me, ma’am.”

My arms released the bar and I sighed, scanning up a damn nice body until my eyes connected with green. I gave him a smile, impressed already by the sight.

“Yes?”

“Do you live here in Moncate?” He asked me. Looking side to side in question, I nodded, wondering why he was asking.

“Yes. I’ve only been here for a little while.” When he nodded and smiled, I felt comfortable around him. “I’m Sae. Sae Shepherd.”

“Marcus Helix. Nice to meet you, darlin.”

Darlin? Being a Texan girl, I could have jumped his bones right then and there for saying that but I decided to keep being a lady and continue the conversation.

“It’s not the fact that you fucked Karn. In some clubs, that’s seen as pretty unprofessional but Karn seems to be fine with it so we follow with him. It’s the fact that Karn seems to be giving you favoritism.”

I was mind blown, ya’ll.

“Woah, wait a minute. Are you telling me the reason I have been put first on the schedule to dance is that I fucked Karn?”

Juana pointed at me with a smile. “Now you’re getting it, chickadee.”

“Oh no, no, no. I can’t have that. I’m telling you the truth when I say I’m not trying to cheat my way up to the top from the get-go. I want to do this the right way.”

Juana nodded with a wary smile and I sucked my teeth. I didn’t like this situation at all. I grew up with my mama telling me not to start messes and somehow because Karn wanted to show his “appreciation” I’m in the middle of one.

“Looks like I need to do some talking with the boss.”

“It sure does.”

Around 2 am, the club began to close and the dancers did the payouts to the club. I had just come out of the ladies room after freshening up only to bump into Karn, who had reached out to steady me. His hands were warm and big and I could only imagine just how good they would feel ALL over my body. 

“You made it to the end of the shift. How do you feel about working here?” Karn asked after backing up from me.

“I already enjoy it here. I had a feeling it was a great place. I just can’t want to get to know people better.”

We both smile at each other as the girls make their ways home from the club. One of them gives me a slight scowl and I have a feeling that’s the one called Bri. She departs as well. There was no sign of Misty so I figured she was in her office. I sigh and then look at Karn who is still staring at me intensely.

“I’m going to find Misty. See you next shift...boss man.”

I began to make my way there when I hear him talk in a deep voice behind me.

“Why don’t...you come and chat with me instead?”

Ya’ll...you already know. How can I turn this down?

Pretty pleased with how I’m doing so far, I took a break, my eyes absorbing everything about this club. So far it’s living up to the hype I gave it. I’m so into watching the others dance, I don’t hear footsteps behind me. 

“Taking it all in?” 

My head whips around to see Karn standing there smiling at me. I get up quickly from the stool I was sitting on, not wanting him to see that I wasn’t working. 

“Just for a little bit. I was just about to go and walk around, I promise.” 

“No need to rush. You’re doing a damn good job, beautiful.”
