complicated blorbo family situation

starting to think fantasy fashion design is my passion the way I never draw Junne in the same outfit twice

I asked people to send me nouns for OC designs ft. my blorbos

The immortal wizard's overworked research assistants: Lu and Wen, in their boring work fits 🙏 In my mind Lu dresses a bit flashy with patterns and vibrant colors + gold accessories VS Wen's sleek and dark style + silver, but in contrast Lu has a more traditional silhouette while Wen has some fun details. They're remarkably human lol

And their parents (/j) Juhani and Dima… I wanted Wenlu's designs to reflect the mentor they were closest to, but there's some overlap~

I've been drawing Junne for a while now but this is the first "final" design for Dima. Compared to when I first drew him, I aged him up lol although his concept has always been undead. I wanted to give him light clothing with simple cuts but an imposing figure (?) the first sketches I made of him were very Qing but I decided fuck it. Yakan time. I'm heading back to textile research hell but 🫡

I haven't drawn Junne's original design lately, so I used a variation here. I never originally thought of him as tall, but Dima ended up being short when I finally drew him haha

First noun was scallywag, and I didn't want to go for any of the obvious answers, so have a dashing roguish sailor. It turned out more Donald Duck than intended but I'll allow it

Second was fish… I'd been looking at escoffions and such lately so I tried to design something that resembled a catfish. Which is delicious (irrelevant)

Next was snake, and I went with the rhinoceros viper because I wanted to do something more colorful. Thought the fur was a fun way to get the silhouette I wanted

Lastly I got both gate and lock and it made me think of like. doors in general ig lol I tried to design a mask/muzzle that resembles a shishi door knocker. These days I've been consumed with a desire to draw a bald guy so here he is!

All in all I think it went well and I might revisit these designs later on properly bc I have bad research disease

Theo, everything you tag about your OCs makes me desperately curious. Is there written lore about them?

Mostly what I write is just disorganized wordbuilding notes for myself that shan't see the light of day… bc they're deranged but also I just feel like typing it straight out is boring and I should pour my love and effort into it even though it's soooo slow (oㅠ-ㅠ)b

I think what I should clear up is I have two sets of OCs that don't intersect at all lol what I mainly like to have Thoughts and Ideas about is a fantasy setting centered around Lu and Wen (⬇), who work as research assistants for an immortal wizard (Dima).

They mostly go around fact-checking Dima's personal accounts, and Lu in particular specializes in invoking the souls of ancient witches. She most frequently relies on Juhani (my firstborn and favored son…) and is personally researching Hin-hin for that purpose. Wen is more or less a bodyguard/sidekick/secretary lmao

Second set of OCs are just my awful shitty guys: Xulei, Yulha, and Som (⬇). These three (+Tam) were all working at a music agency that went under, but none of them want to go home so they all live together and make each other miserable.

Yulha was originally Som's manager and learning music production from Tam, then invited Lei over bc of a loser crush. Som has actually already debuted as a solid C-list actor and model but is lying to his mom about making it big lol Lei and Tam on the other hand are happily living as failed trash.

I also mention Mitsuho sometimes, who's an actually successful idol-actor that sadly gets dragged into their mess 😔
