I recently found out about Static and Fable from @orbital-inclination. So I hope this little story from Stone Ink is fun. I really love liminal spaces and frankly I think it's been a while I wrote him. Sorry if it's a bit rushed
Busy
The world was a mess, a real mess. Holes in reality, timelines and aus bleeding into each other. Stone Ink didn't like how easy it was for a 10 year old to destroy everything. Even Titan Error's rescue didn't do that much damage. This stupid kid thought she had a right to let go of all her memories because she wasn't cuddled enough.
Stone Ink frowned but ultimately let go as he carved a wooden box for a new ink stone being dried. He had to solidify so many codes now. Pellet, his bands of medicine made alive, appeared by his side. “Stone, a new Ink has arrived.” Stone Ink mumbled to himself, it wasn't his job to deal with that, his job was to solidify the code of creation so something like that tantrum wouldn't hurt them. More Inks was just a mess he didn't care for. Not like any of them even care about how important the job was. “Stone, Titan is asking for your help.”
Titan Error the official destroyer/editor of this multiverse. For someone that became one with the core of it. He really should have kicked that stupid girl before she messed stuff up. Not adopt one of her wishes. They should have just banned all of them. “He can deal with stuff on his own. Tell him I am busy.”
Pellets floated away probably to send back the message. Stone Ink was generally mad to be honest. He really didn't care for Amelia's return, she kept complaining, acting like it wasn't her fault. Especially now that Ceres kept going on yearly break like if they weren't already stretched thin. He hated all of this so much. Why do people never take the job seriously? Threads wrapped themselves around his wrist until he let go of his work. He was pulled backward until he was beside Titan Error. Since he could enter the doodlesphere freely he became such a pain. “We are both needed for this.”
Stone pulled on the thread until they snapped and he twirled his new paintbrush into a fighting position. “Just ask anyone else. This new Ink can't be too hard even with you weakened. I am busy.”
Titan waved his hands towards the sky. “You have a job for the audience too, you know.”
Being the creators muse felt weird and he didn't like it. “Fine, I'll join, but make this quick.”
Titan nodded and made himself a portal while Stone did too. They didn't like sharing each other's means of travel.
They both landed in a mall center, but it was empty, with barely anything there. Well they were groceries and tables but nothing lived in. Not just closed but like if it never opened in the first place. Titan left for a route and Stone for the other. This new Ink might not see Titan Error as anything else than a threat.
Stone walked further ahead as he realised nothing in this mall was perishable. If it was, they were toys. Stone would have to keep this in mind then. It could help with the whole crisis. So Stone continued down the isles trying to find this new Ink. He always could find them easily. He just had to describe new stuff. He was here for that.
The mall had giant windows like you would expect. But no sign of greenery or life. Just painted soft clouds and sunrays. It was lifelike enough but way too manufactured to be real.
“Oooh someone new?” Stone looked at one of the railing for the second floor. It looks like they have no roof yet though. Hanging from his legs was the Ink in question. Wearing a boa style scarf and a see through paintbrush.
“My name is Stone, I am an Ink like you. Do you have a name?”
The Ink type flipped backward to land on his feet while humming. “Oh wait yeah!” He offered his hand with a flourish. “My name is Fable.” So Fairytale au then.
Stone shook his hand quickly. “Let me show you the outside. I am sure you would love it.”
Fable nodded enthusiastically as they both jumped into Stone's portal. The Fairytale au was incredible at times. Painted like a children's book, with snow that always sparkled even at night. Fable looked amazed with star shaped eyelights. He started to run around in the snow as Stone just looked for some bright colors.
Stone let Fable play as he went to a multicolored spiraling river. He filled the bucket in his hand before coming back. “Here, this river is now your food source like the rest of the au. Protect it. If you want to help me just call me on this phone.” Stone also offered a phone and went to walk away.
Fable seemed a bit bummed though. “You don't want to play?”
Stone shook his head. “I am busy, stuff to do. You will probably meet others though.”
Fable looked around for a bit before coming back towards Stone while hugging the paint bucket. “What do you need help with? The spirit of creation seems to really want to try out something.”
Stone could hear them too and it was grating. “I need something to fill plot holes. A kid broke the multiverse and now holes keep appearing. The more it does, the more the timelines bleed into each other. So if you could use your Doodle Sphere to fill the gaps, it would be appreciated.”
Fable smiled as he nodded. “Ooh interesting idea.”
Stone nodded as well before leaving for real he was busy.
Back to his own Doodlesphere, Titan was there with the code of this new Error. Static, he was permitted to have rats that could survive electricity damage. “I am in the process of calming his self-destructive attitude but he might be able to find purpose like I did.”
Stone just grunted mainly because of how much he just wanted to work. Titan Error left after that and that was better, he really didn't care for pleasantries.
