          she hadn’t been anticipating a pep talk before the melee would begin ,   much less one from titania .   it wasn’t up until recently that the two of them even began to get along and not point a blade at each others’ throats ;   how startling it was to find that she had arrived in camelot the night before .   how strange it was to lay in her cot beside her ,   to allow titania to hold her and allow harriet to express the vulnerability that she fights every day to hide and suppress .   how strange it felt to sleep right through the night without a single interruption for the first time in so many years . 

          harriet reaches up to fiddle with her braids ,   a nervous habit she’s kept since childhood ,   but her lips betray her fond smile .     “   what’s a brawl without the guts and glory ?   ”     slowly ,   she steps further in and raises herself up on the tips of her toes ,   pressing a feather light kiss against the curve of titania’s cheek .     “   for good luck .   ”

     “ scary. ” the pirate queen laughs, shaking her head slightly. “ you’re gonna push me in the water, what will i do? ” as if she can’t instantly dry herself. “ i’ll splash you back. ” they’re going to cause a scene.

@titaneia​ sent [ BEHIND ] titania kidnapping uma.... Perhaps... // ( unexpectedly, your muse arrives close to my mind from behind, taking them by surprise. ) 

     the docks are dark, sodden. the wind whips around the ships, rain sheeting sideways as the storm cuts through the air. it sets her teeth on edge in a way storms shouldn’t. she’s used to them, she calls them, she creates them. this is not one of those. she’s not even sure she could control it if she tried. 

      there’s a kind of malevolence to it that has her quickening her step along the boards. something about it that makes her wish she was at home, aboard her ship, comfortable in her cabin instead of walking the dark streets. 

      there’s a flash of lightning, so close she can feel the electricity in the air, it sizzles around her. then there’s something up against her back, and a cold blade pressed to the front of her neck and she pauses in her reach for her sword. “ you don’t want to do that, ” she says, tone as smooth as silk. “ walk away. ”
