Titanfolk’s obsession with having Annie being tortured or her paying for “what she has done”…nada new
Scrolling through the hellsite that can sometimes be somewhat enjoyable that is Reddit’s Titanfolk, one thing that never fails to be brought up by users (painfully obvious that are male) is how Annie got away “scot free”.
The thing that grinds my gears was the audacity to blame child Annie for breaking down and hitting her father- accusing her of always planning to do it.
Annie was abandoned like trash, used by her father, trained relentlessly to be a warrior to achieve Marleyan citizenship without her consent, deprived of a normal childhood, of a loving home, is a loner with zero social skills that developed sociopathy because of her environment and her daddy had the privilege to noticed the gravity of his actions because by then he was living an average accustomed life and his loneliness made him realized what he has done-which by then was too late. Which by then Annie (has tried to) made peace with her actions-which she knows are irredeemable.
And the obsessions, the horrifying descriptions I see in ways to make her suffer, the anger I see with Annie is so ridiculously sad because it’s obvious where that inner hatred is coming from. Is stupidly obvious the misogyny.
Of all the warriors, Annie has suffered the worst fate.
Yeah you heard me; I’ve said what I’ve said.
Just think. Being crystallized for years, not being able to move a limb, to breathe, feeling cravings, hunger that the crystal is supplying to her enough to keep her alive. Hearing the occasional Hitch and Armin visiting her but not being able to reply back. Not being able to see. To grow. To speak. To feel. For FIVE YEARS STRAIGHT. Not knowing when they’ll get you, plan your revenge; when will they’ll plan to feed you. The horrors of knowing that her time is running out and that there is nothing she can do about it but wait it out. Alone with her thoughts, memories, nightmares and occasional fantasies.
What Annie went through is absolutely horrifying. A conscious coma. It’s literally torture what she endured. And the fact that she had fo adapt quickly because otherwise her life and the world’s depended on it.
What more do you want her to endure?
And to use the excuse of “the characters need to call her out for what she has done”. She did! She called herself out TWICE. She has tried to come clean but you have to realize no one in the 104th were close to her. They didn’t feel the same anger as with Reiner. Their plight was mainly with him. Because Reiner (despite rightfully having his own mental issues) was the one known as their “big brother”, the one people counted on, depended on, leaned on. He was in a way inadvertently the mastermind behind it all, he led Annie to the Survey Corps and their locations/plan. The 104th are smart and know because they put two and two together!
While Reiner became this meme people laugh on, Annie because this symbol of unpaid consequences and she now seems to carry a lot of the warriors sins despite her having suffered enough.
Titanfolk bunch with their unwashed asses’ opinions always being shitty-nothing new.
