The hardest part about this to me is to not mischaracterize Jean. I'm generally open to exploring most Floch ships as long as I can keep him in his controlling, higher intensity state.
Jean and Floch as adults have a similar level of baseline assertiveness, but Floch is significantly more controlling and more actively seeking out positions of power or responsibility, so I can certainly see a setting where they struggle for power, and Floch takes over.
This would need to be private and natural, with Floch getting into Jean's head a bit, talking him through how it's okay for him to finally give in. Floch would probably tell Jean that he can see that he doesn't like to lead, that it's something he only does because others expect it and need him to. (Which might not be entirely the truth, but I do think this would strike a chord, since Jean does desire a more gentle, happy and easy life, which can imply less responsibility, pressure and decision making.)
For an AU I can really see this in some kind of gym or sports setting, maybe even office AU. Canonverse would make it pretty easy but it would be slightly canon divergent.

heads up, this is gonna be a LONG one, so if ya wanna sit and read my extensive character analysis about floch, grab some popcorn and have a seat
"Floch is just an Eren simp // Floch's whole character revolves around Eren // Floch is gay because he loves Eren"
Before I get into this, I should say that if you ship Fleren that is okay and I have no issues with you! This is not about Fleren specifically, just about the fandom
Floch does not love Eren. He is not a "dickrider" or a "simp" or anything as such. My personal belief is that Eren manipulated Floch, but I am going to try to keep things strictly based on canon (even though that has lots of canonical evidence... but I digress.)
Floch, after Erwin's death, specifically states that when he found Erwin alive, his first thought was that he wanted to kill him. The only reason he didn't is because he believed that death was a mercy Erwin didn't deserve. He viewed Erwin as a devil, and if you rewatch Midnight Sun and pay attention to Floch's dialogue, you will hear that he does not commend Erwin as a good man. He views Erwin as a devil, an evil man. Floch believes that, in order to fight the titans and to survive, you have to become a devil, a monster like them. That is where his ideology comes from. It is built from loathing, from the idea that in order to survive, you must kill. It is not built from idolatry. This leads into my point about Eren.
When Eren proposed the idea of the rumbling to Floch, he proposed it in a way he knew Floch would agree with, which is "We have to kill them or they will kill us." This is a mindset Floch already very VERY openly has shared, hence why Eren would've set his sights on Floch and trusted him to help carry out the plan. May I remind you that, again, this ideology is one that Floch bore from a severely traumatizing incident, one that left him full of rage and fear.
Floch never looked at Eren and thought he was some "holier than thou" person who could save the world. A savior? Yes. Not in the way you think. What Floch saw as a savior was a man willing to abandon all hope and turn that hope into death, crushing anyone who dared be unfortunate enough to live outside of Paradis. A "savior" to him was not a holy man who was going to save the world. Floch's "savior" was a man who would destroy the world just to keep Paradis alive. A devil, a monster wading through a pool of humanity's blood.
In short, Floch followed Eren because he believed that Eren's plan was the best way to save Eldia, because that's what Eren made him believe. His loyalty was not to Eren, it was to Eldia. Yes, he had loyalty towards Eren, but his dying breath was used to beg for Eldia's safety. He did not want to stop the alliance just because he wanted to keep Eren safe. He wanted to stop the alliance because he thought Eren was the only one who could save Eldia. His loyalty was to a cause. His heart and soul to the cause. Eren just happened to be leading that cause, and if Eren had happened to, for whatever reason, change his mind, I am confident that Floch would have continued to follow his own ideals separate from Eren.
"Floch is a nazi!"
I'm not going to dignify this with a lengthy explanation, because it's simply untrue. Also, comparing a fictional character with zero ties to nazi Germany, to a REAL LIFE holocaust where thousands were brutally murdered.. is just insane. Seriously, some of you people need to get your heads on straight. That's incredibly disrespectful to the people who actually lived through the holocaust IN REAL LIFE. Enough said.

Okay so this one isn't strictly about Floch himself, but it still annoys me because it's entirely untrue !! Yeah, you're gonna meet fans of him who fit those criteria, duh. But out of the MULTIPLE Floch fans/yumes/riakos/etc I've met, the large majority are actually pretty chill people who are left leaning. That's what happens when you know how to enjoy FICTIONAL media without letting it tie into your NON FICTIONAL beliefs.. Crazy, I know. Who would have thought that the fake, not real things I enjoy don't dictate who I am in my not fake, very real life? For the record, I myself am not republican, conservative, fascist, etc any of that. I don't support any of those things, and I don't support the current president. And none of the multiple friends I have who enjoy Floch support/are any of those things either !!

Okay, let me preface this by saying that I am not homophobic and I don't hate the headcanon itself !! It's moreso the general... audience that tends to headcanon Floch as gay. The reason I dislike this headcanon specifically is (shockingly) NOT because I am a fem-aligned person who loves Floch. I used to be the biggest fleren shipper you'd ever meet. The reason I dislike this headcanon so much is because so often, the main reason people think he is gay is because they think he's an Eren dickrider. Honestly, I find some of the "Floch is gay" jokes to be pretty homophobic because all they're doing is just that- making homosexuality a joke. They think its so "haha funny" that the concept of a man loving another man even exists. That's also what irritates me about the "eren dickrider" jokes because 90% of the time, that goes hand in hand with the "floch is gay" headcanon, and it's genuinely just homophobic. Or at the very least, pushing harmful stereotypes. I dunno, maybe I'm too woke but I don't think its funny to imply that someone being homosexual is some hilarious, silly, meme-able thing. I don't mind a good "lol Floch is an Eren simp" joke if it's done tastefully.. But I'm also picky and whiny when it comes to Floch, so take my opinion with a grain of salt !! But just for the record, I also definitely don't think he's straight and I side-eye anyone who does.. Whatever he had going on with Jean was NOT heterosexual and nobody is gonna convince me otherwise.
If you made it this far, thank you tons for reading my lengthy, bitchy post about Floch LMAO. Oh, also, I feel I should add... I am NOT a proshipper, darkshipper, or anything of the sort. I know they commonly tend to use the "fiction and reality aren't the same" argument, which I used a few times, but that argument CAN be used by people who aren't proship!! Which I am. I mean, I am one of the people who is not proship. You get what I mean. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify that, because this wouldn't be the first time I had a slip of the tongue and got called a proshipper for it.. This isn't a slip of the tongue though, it's just me explaining..
also i was so totally gonna talk about how Floch is not a fascist, but then i did some research on fascism and... well, i'm smart enough to know when someone fits a definition. this is precisely why i do not support AOT floch's actions, and why my Floch (the one im bonded to) is a modern reincarnated Floch and not the Floch from AOT... I can get more into that if someone is curious... I might do it anyways... but !! enough yapping, okay byeeee ~
