The candle between them flickered, casting long, sharp shadows across the hidden room.

Eren sat with his head in his hands, the weight of a thousand future memories torturing his mind. Outside these walls, he had to be an enigma. He had to push Armin away, lie to Mikasa, and keep Historia at a distance to protect her.

But here, in the dark, he could bleed.

"When I touched Historia's hand… when I saw the ocean…" Eren’s voice was barely a whisper, filled with a bitter, choking grief. "I thought we would find freedom. An untouched world. But it wasn’t empty, Floch. It was just filled with people who want us dead. I was… so disappointed."

He braced himself for judgment. He expected the horror he knew he’d see in Armin’s eyes, or the heartbroken pity he’d see in Mikasa’s.

Instead, he looked up and met Floch’s gaze.

There was no disgust there. No moral condemnation. Only a terrifying, absolute clarity.

"Instead, there are only enemies," Floch said softly, leaning closer. His voice lacked the frantic edge it usually had in public. Here, it was steady, a grounding anchor. "But we can erase them, Eren. We will cover their traces with our own footprint. Then we'll finally be free. And safe."

Eren’s eyes widened, catching the candlelight.

Someone understood. Someone truly, entirely saw the horror of what had to be done, and didn't pull away.

Floch reached out, his hand coming down firmly onto Eren’s shoulder. The heat of the grip felt real - the only real thing in a world blending past, present, and future together.

"Leave it to me," Floch promised, his fingers tightening just enough to ground Eren. "I'll gather the soldiers. I'll infiltrate the government from the inside out. Eldia will flourish once again, and you'll lead us into a new age. An age of true freedom. I will always have your back."

Eren looked at the hand on his shoulder, then slowly reached up, closing his fingers over Floch’s.

It was a quiet, desperate pact sealed in the dark.

In mbti Floch and Eren have opposite strengths and weaknesses. Floch is an ESTJ, Eren is an ISFP.

Eren's main cognitive function is introverted feeling, his inferior function is extroverted thinking, for Floch it is the opposite.

Because of this I love writing Floch in a way where he struggles with his personal feelings and Eren is on his side and defends him/his feelings. Floch has a hard time expressing, showing and even recognising what he actually feels, but Eren can sense this and values it deeply. He wouldn't mock Floch for this and he'd actually give him space to safely express what he feels, because he wouldn't be dramatic or judgemental about Floch expressing himself.

I came back from retirement to write about Floch Forster, after leaving the fandom years ago and deleting my AO3 and all my fics. I've abandoned my old ships and now all I can think about is Floch.

My new obsession is Floch in dangerous maritime jobs.

Because of his canon injury and death I associate him with water, diving and drowning. He'd be great as an off-shore underwater welder on an oil rig. He would have to repair pipelines or the structures of the rig itself. Eliminating human error would be his first priority.

Slightly less dangerous but another great option would be sea/harbor pilot, where he has to board large ships to advise the captain to guide them through difficult waterways. He has to board by climbing onto the moving ship, from a much smaller pilot boat, which has a high risk of injury or drowning.

The hardest part about this to me is to not mischaracterize Jean. I'm generally open to exploring most Floch ships as long as I can keep him in his controlling, higher intensity state.

Jean and Floch as adults have a similar level of baseline assertiveness, but Floch is significantly more controlling and more actively seeking out positions of power or responsibility, so I can certainly see a setting where they struggle for power, and Floch takes over.

This would need to be private and natural, with Floch getting into Jean's head a bit, talking him through how it's okay for him to finally give in. Floch would probably tell Jean that he can see that he doesn't like to lead, that it's something he only does because others expect it and need him to. (Which might not be entirely the truth, but I do think this would strike a chord, since Jean does desire a more gentle, happy and easy life, which can imply less responsibility, pressure and decision making.)

For an AU I can really see this in some kind of gym or sports setting, maybe even office AU. Canonverse would make it pretty easy but it would be slightly canon divergent.
