Book updates!!

Okay, so, I have a few updates with my books that I wanted to throw out there!

First, I've added a book to instead be the first book. I want it to be called 'Elemental Awakening' with, of course, the little headline thingy. It's where Scarlett first appears in a world, where she's a background character. She's young, she's naive, and she doesn't know how to control her new-found powers. The book is mostly about Elements, each character being a personification of an element or something like it (Love and Hate being two of the non-elements)

Second, book titles!! I've decided to change up Ever-changing Sea and Fariland Forest's titles! First, I want to change Ever-changing Sea to 'The Sea of Aphrodite', and I want the book itself to focus a tad more on love. That leaves Fariland Forest to Ever-Changing Forest or something of the sort! If there's already books with those titles, I'll, or course, have to change it. Other than that, I'll be fine!

Why did the American copies of the books replace the ‘and the’ in the ‘Artemis Fowl’ titles with ‘:’ (‘colons’)?

Ok, so this is a solid question that I do not have a hard answer for. As far as I can tell, Eoin Colfer has never weighed in on this change, and I can't find any literature from the publisher on it. My best guess is just differences in regional preferences/trends for series branding and cover design for publishers. By getting rid of "and the" in American titles, then the publisher has a specific series title that they can separate from the (sub)titles of each book, and Americans seem to like that for some reason.

According to this article on The Fowl Twins, there are always regional changes in books when they publish in North America and the UK/Europe, and most of these are small things that just make the book read more familiarly to readers in those locations, because US and UK English are actually more different than you think. That might also be behind the change from "and the" to a colon.

I've run into changes like this with other series too, since I'm Canadian but was raised in the states. I spent summers in Canada, so I always had access to both US and UK versions of books. Another example I grew up with was OR Melling's Golden Book of Faerie, which I bought in Canada first and then got a US copy for a school assignment, and all the very Canadian stuff (like using "Canuck" and "beaver tail" and a couple of refrences to Tim Hortons) were genericized in the American copy.

Another Title Changes Hands in Manchester - Survivor Series Card Completely Altered

Forgive me for I am typing this with a heavy heart right now but as many of you may know by now, another title has switched hands and once again has altered the card for Survivor Series entirely.

As I mentioned last night, both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose lost the RAW Tag Team Championships to Cesaro and Sheamus after The New Day distracted the entire RAW roster to end Monday Night RAW.  Now, today, in the same arena where Seth and Dean lost their tag titles, we have another new champion as AJ Styles has defeated Jinder Mahal to become the new WWE Champion and will now head to Survivor Series in Houston to face WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Put this into perspective.  Just two weeks ago, fans were preparing to see the long-awaited match between Seth Rollins/Dean Ambrose and The Usos that as far as I'm concerned had the strongest buildup while at the same time, no one really cared for Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal and this was despite the weak buildup for the match.

Now, instead of getting the long-awaited dream tag match; we'll be getting The Bar vs. The Usos but will we actually get the match?  It has been reported that during the SmackDown Championship matchup against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, that Jey Uso may have suffered some type of knee injury.  You may be able to see that injury tonight and tell me if it is serious or not.  There’s a chance that if the injury is serious, either The Bar will face a different opponent or the match will change to an one-on-one matchup.

At the same time, we'll finally be getting the match that fans have been waiting a very long time.  It's The Beast vs. The Phenomal One at the Survivor Series on November 19th in Houston.  

So, where do former champions Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Jinder Mahal go from here? Well, Dirty Sheets has confirmed that both Rollins and Ambrose will still be at the Survivor Series in Houston as they will be teaming up with Roman Reigns to reform The Shield and face The New Day in another big dream match.  As for Jinder, he's out of Survivor Series for 2017 as of this moment and unless things change next week, which they could, don't expect Jinder at the Survivor Series on November 19th.

Personal Accountability, and What's in a Name?

I'm still wading through the read through, but while that continues I've decided the first nominee for a change of title for 'The Old Man.'
