Well friends, the vaccine mandate has finally reached my college...

For those of you who may not know, I am a 24 year old graduate student at a prominent university here in the South. I also happen to teach college students as part of my graduate teaching assistant (GTA) stipend.

As of 3:30 on October 22nd, I was told I must receive the vaccine before December 8th or I would be fired. This is quite distressing to me.

I do not tend to make original posts here on Tumblr, but this one might be the most important one I make. The battle is here, and Hannibal is at the gates.

First, I plan to file for religious exemption from this mandate. I do not know if I will receive such an exemption, but I truly believe this mandate affects my sincerely held religious beliefs. I also believe it affects my pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. If we do not object to the vaccine now nobody will be able to object to anything in the near future.

Second, I ask for my followers assistance. If you have links and resources to guides that might benefit me in the upcoming days, I invite you to send them to me.

I have been reading up on America's Frontline Doctor's information as well as the Title VII rights to which I am entitled.

Title IV Refund

I'm at the brink of tears. Although, I don't cry money so I refuse to waste my energy, time and mental capacity on sorrow. I f'd up. Like this hurts me so much. Ignorance is never bliss. This is why I try to go above and learn more about the actions I desire to do. I can't just "do" like other people do. What can go wrong, usually does go wrong. At least not in the worst way, thank God.  I wish I came into the computer lab earlier to see this, but what I was doing earlier led me to discover this. So I actually don't. I sort of figured out a way I could graduate on time and do the Honors Program. Planned out my next year.

I need a job and ASAP. I spent all last night on a resume. Funny because I didn't know then that I N E E D a job, I just knew I needed one. But not this bad. If I cried money, I would cry rivers right now. I don't want to ask my dad for money. Ironic how the money I had before would have saved me all this turmoil. I need a job right now like today. I guess this is the fire I need in my ass. Over here "taking leisure" and feeling all types of slothful. I am not one to be caught slippin', because when I slip there's always blood. I'm bleeding out and I'm in need of help.

The most destructive tool of the culture of classism is deficit theory. In education, we often talk about the deficit perspective—defining students by their weaknesses rather than their strengths. Deficit theory takes this attitude a step further, suggesting that poor people are poor because of their own moral and intellectual deficiencies (Collins, 1988). Deficit theorists use two strategies for propagating this world view: (1) drawing on well-established stereotypes, and (2) ignoring systemic conditions, such as inequitable access to high-quality schooling, that support the cycle of poverty. The implications of deficit theory reach far beyond individual bias. If we convince ourselves that poverty results not from gross inequities (in which we might be complicit) but from poor people's own deficiencies, we are much less likely to support authentic antipoverty policy and programs. Further, if we believe, however wrongly, that poor people don't value education, then we dodge any responsibility to redress the gross education inequities with which they contend. This application of deficit theory establishes the idea of what Gans (1995) calls the undeserving poor—a segment of our society that simply does not deserve a fair shake.
