Boyfriend!Anthony X Reader taken from this prompt list
The sun long ago fell behind the New York high rises, the bright yellow once reflecting off the East River is now dark. The darkness of the water carries into your 52nd floor apartment, every wave of the river rolls through you further drowning you in your sorrows.
He was supposed to be here, five hours ago. He promised he would be there. Just like he was supposed to be at your best friend’s birthday party two weeks ago, your company dinner last month and your nephew’s birthday party three months ago. He was supposed to be there.
Zipping up the suitcase you head to the bathroom. Grabbing your brushes and products you carefully put them in your makeup bag. Next is your blow dryer, straightener, curling iron, products and items you can’t live without and you make the trip down to your car. Bag after bag fill the trunk, slowly no space is left.
Unlocking the door for what will be the last time you remove the key from your key ring. Setting it on the hall table you hear Anthony’s key turn in the lock.
“YN,” he instantly wraps his arms around you, your back agaisnt his stomach.
Kissing your cheek all you can smell is whiskey and the faintness of perfume. Neither one surprises you. Anthony wouldn’t cheat, you have zero doubt of that. Just like on the ice, he often plays the wingman to his teammates, flirting with the friends of the girl they are trying to get. Never once has he crossed a line but your stomach churns every time he kisses you smelling like them.
“Have a good night?” you sigh.
“Yeah, after practice I went to Barzy’s for a bit, then we grabbed dinner and drinks with Marty and Bellows.”
“Sounds like fun.”
“Mhm. The boys missed you babe, you should have come,” he places another sloppy kiss on your neck, tightening his grip on your stomach.
“I was at dinner with my parents.”
His grip loosens while he stiffens behind you, the lights going off in his head. “YN…I…I’m so sorry.”
Pulling away you turn around and cross your arms over your chest, waiting for whatever apology he has this time. “I forgot, it completely slipped my mind…we were hanging out just watching some golf when Marty called asking if we wanted to grab dinner…I just…I –“
“Forgot,” you sigh heavily, tears brimming in your eyes. “You always forget.”
“That’s not true-“ his tone is quiet as he awaits your scolding, knowing it should be coming.
“No you’re right, when it comes to the guys you never forget. But me? My friends? My family? You always forget.”
“No YN, I don’t always forget.”
“Anthony,” you plead with him. His eyes soften and he reaches out for your hands but you shake him off. “I can’t do this anymore,” your voice finally cracks, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on you.
“YN, what are you – what are you saying?” He swallows the lump in his throat while he attempts to stifle his tears.
“If I was important to you, you wouldn’t forget, you’d make the time for me.” Your eyes burn as tears flow down your cheeks, matching the ones on his.
“You’re everything to me.”
“Evidently I’m not.”
