I feel like I don't talk about tizemt that much, roya's mother for anyone who doesn't recognise the name because I don't talk about her much.
In the original idea of roya's story she played a small part because roya specifically ran away from home to go find out about her dad, so she's actively avoiding her mother. But ignoring her feels like a disservice to tizemt, she shouldn't just be used to explain how roya exists that's not fair so we're gonna talk about her
Realistically she should play a more important part in roya's story, her husband dies and while she tries to keep his secret it's kind of obvious roya found out when she finds her daughter missing and his corpse cut open, after his funeral she should be trying to find her daughter.
But there is a problem with that, which is that tizemt is often the main defender of her city, not usually the only one but the main one, so she would need to prepare to leave her city in good hands before she left, I've decided you see that tizemt is incredibly loyal, she is loyal to her city, her people and her family, tizemt is where roya learnt to honour oaths and agreements, it's why she listens when she loses a fight and follows what her losing condition is, she learnt it from her mother.
Tizemt must make sure her city can survive so she can chase her daughter to honour her husbands wishes, she knows roya is going to look for Prometheus or will eventually find him, she wants to honour nasir's dying wish to protect her. But she also must honour her oath to her city to protect it, so perhaps her entrance in the story is late, she came as fast as she could but because of her loyalty it simply wasn't fast enough, she couldn't abandon one for the other, but it's likely in her efforts to do both at least one feels abandoned and is left alone far more then she wanted.
Like with roya when Prometheus gets his hands on her, she was too late to warn her daughter on what Nasir already told his wife, about who he used to be and who he believed he really was, a monster like Prometheus.
Now despite this, tizemt does not hate Prometheus, you see.. that loyalty is also applied to her wedding vows, where she and Nasir promised to love eachother throughout anything, sickness, health, life or death... And to tizemt, that includes Prometheus, so no matter how much of a monster he is, how cruel he is and how he seems to revel in it, that man is still her husband and she has vowed to love him forever.
Nasir and Prometheus used to be the same person after all, if she could love him once through that she can do it again and that's what she vows to do, much to Prometheus's utter confusion.
You see, when he first heard he had a wife he thought she was tricked, that his other self pretended to be innocent, that he dulled his claws to lure her in, so utterly convinced of his own monstrous nature that he assumes nobody could love it, so he assumes once tizemt sees him as he is, that she will realize her husband was a fraud and be utterly distraught. Serves her right for thinking he is lovable!
And uh, she does not. She very much does not. And he just can't grasp why, they're kinda like the epic song would you fall in love with me again except Prometheus is saying it like she can't and tizemt is saying she will as a threat.
Tizemt: i don't care if you're lovable and evil, get cherished and adored bitch!
she means that utterly as a threat and Prometheus has never been threatened in such a way. It kinda gets awkward when roya completes her five stages of grief and accepts that he's not her dad, because at this rate with how they act somebody is gonna ensure his ass is her step dad and she's not here for it.
Look, to even hook up with pre child Nasir is not a normal feat, tizemt was never gonna be normal and pure, her loyalty is fierce and she defends what she loves with great strength, she doesn't follow her loyalty with blind obedience, she doesn't sit by and do nothing if Prometheus fucks with her daughter, but she also made a vow she refuses to break so she won't just abandon him regardless of what he did to roya, it's messy. Tizemt will object to his choices, if he does something that affects her loyalties and oaths negatively like hurting her daughter or her city she will make sure he knows and has incentive to not do it again, her love is fierce and hard and Prometheus can't escape from it, he's never faced love before let alone the love she carries after being married to a version of him.
Basically if you ever wondered why roya was like that it's because her parents are fucking weird and she got it from them.
