TRADER JOES THOUGHTS #1

if i can be so very annoying for one second, since moving trader joes has become, after a few years of living far from one, back to being my #1 grocery store as an adult and because of that I have formed very strong opinions on their fluctuating products that no one in my life cares about so im just going to share things recently on my mind for maybe the one other person similar to me here.

quick thoughts on all these things below lol

Ghost Pepper chips

Trader joes is really great at making chip flavors that would work a lot better as hypothetical seasonings on other foods rather then as chips (their deli chips is an example) these however are really great! As someone who loves a good level of spice these are kinda the perfect sweet zone of almost being over the line but never crossing it. the other flavorings on them (garlic onion etc) are really great and weirdly enough remind me of a ramen seasoning packet which doesnt sound great but idk it works

Crunchy Chili onion

I ran out of my jar of Laoganma chili crisp that I have with toast and cottage cheese so I was hoping this would be a dupe, it is not at all, the base of it is olive oil and the flavors inside are chili, onion and garlic. while it doesnt work as a stand it for something like Laoganma DAMN this shit is good on stuff, i recently have been smearing it in my sandwiches and it chages everything, makes it spicy, crunchy, oniony and the olive oil base tastes great with any bread

Strawberries and Cream cloud cake

first and formost i have to give it to the price here, less then 7$ for an entire cake is pretty damn good. However important of note here is that the sweetness and overall flavor is is very light, the cake itself is also very fluffy and airy, because of this it isn't really as much food as it looks like. the strawberry topping however is a bit overly strong in flavor and tartness so i sometimes scrape a bit off. but despite it sounding like im doing a lot of complaining this is actually very much my type of cake, i dont like it overly sweet or very dense so this is very good

Rosatella Sause

the way i talk about this sauce is as if it saved my baby son from a burning building, i talk about this sauce like i was on the edge and it grabbed my hand. this is IMO the perfect jarred sauce. i have always been an ass about how no store has even been able to seel good vodka sauce, and let me make it clear, this isnt vodka sauce, but it has everything that i like from vodka sauce, its thick, its creamy, i have inducted many people into the cult of trader joes rosatella over the past few months and im sure i will again

Comfort is nice, but when your robot husband emits the best wifi, you'll wanna squeeze in as close as you can. I've missed TJT and Sho. It's always nice to fall back in love with your characters after taking a little break~

I think that one of the most painful things about The Oleander Sword (besides the entire last fucking 100 pages) is Bhumika's whole storyline.

Spoilers below the cut

Giving us "amazing mom Bhumika" in the first couple chapters of the book only then have the Yaksa take Padma hostage is the most angst ever. Like, Padma and Priya were two of the people in her life she cared about the most and you have now taken both of them away from her. The scene immediately after Padma is taken where Ganam looks into the room and sees Bhumika with Jeevan and she is absolutely breaking down just gets me every goddamn time and it's so sad. Then, at the end of the book, Ashok tells her he has to erase her memories if she wants the knowledge of how to defeat the Yaksa, and she agrees. Because she's selfless like that. And when he does, we get the process of her first forgetting who Jeevan is and then forgetting her own name and I feel like it just hits you right in the heart that she won't even remember Priya and Padma and what they are to her. I'm so djvfbdhdndbdgdbbr about this book. It's incredible. It's amazing. I hate it. I want to burn it.
