🪢 Speak like you’re undressing her 🪢
Don't talk to her like the world taught you to.
Talk to her like you're making love to her soul with your tongue.
Like each syllable is a stroke.
Like your vowels were carved from her moans.
Speak like your mouth is pressed to the back of her neck and your words are dripping down her spine.
Let her feel the heat and weight of your breath between the lines.
Let her ache for the end of your sentence.
Speak like you own the silence.
Speak like you know how she tastes before you've even kissed her.

Words by me.
✦ ✧ ✦ Authors confession. A glimpse into why I wrote this poem. ✦ ✧ ✦
This one came from watching and learning. The way a woman would subtly freeze when someone complimented her with all the wrong words. The way her eyes lit up only when someone actually saw her for the woman she was. “Speak like you’re undressing her” is a call to the men who think they need to demand or yell, in order to be masculine. I wanted to dismantle that. To say: No. Be the man who whispers, and still makes her knees weak. The kind of man who drops her guard with a phrase, who reaches into her without ever laying a hand on her body. Because his voice is already inside her bloodstream. That’s the man I wrote about here.
