A Different Time, A Different Place: Superhero AU

Full name: Kaila Fisher Superhuman alias: Spectre Mist Alignment: Hero | Neutral (Vigilante) | Villain  Superpower: Water Manipulation Background: When Kaila was 16, she tried to save Ana, her sister, from drowning in the sea. She failed. Both their hearts stopped beating after suffocating in the briny water. However, under an immense amount of stress her mutant genes kicked in and Kai started absorbing oxygen from the water. No, she didn’t absorb it. She was able to separate the particles and push the air into her lungs. She surfaced without remembering how she did it (except that all she wanted to do was live) and was soon picked up by a rescue team.

How have things been? I hope the new place has made you feel at home. I miss you. I’ve gotten a few commissions from my bird watching. It’s great, really.

              (I ran into some bad men in the alley. They were going to hurt a                woman. I couldn’t stand by and watch.)

Remember our neighbours, The Montforts? They’ve been at it again. I constantly hear them bicker and quarrel about what to do with Coraline. She left right after you did, with that bloke Victor. She seems happy.

              (I killed one of them. I was enraged. I killed him with a bolt of ice.                It felt good. And the other guy...)

I’m just writing to let you know that I’ll be moving around from now on; finally living the dream. The town’s much too quiet these days, especially without the old gang around. We should meet up some time. 

              (I filled his lungs with water. He already had his pants to his knees.                I almost laughed when he pissed himself. The police says he died of                shock. He did.)

Day 1:

Basics and cosmetic: Kailani Anahita, a mermaid with the lithe body of a warrior on land and the tail of a powerful fish in the water. Age? 28. Date of Birth? Springtime, 28 years ago. Hair color? Kailani’s golden tail and red hair. Eye color? Kailani’s emerald eyes - let spring gaze upon you. Skin color/nationality? A mermaid with ivory skin lathered with freckles on the nose, shoulders, back and most other parts of her body. Accent (if any)? She has a lilting accent, harsh but beautiful. Her voice is raspy like coarse sea-salt although it complements her naturally fiery locks and perpetually wild expression. Height? Slightly taller than average but not so tall she towers over you. Weight? Her lean body is not as featherweight as it might look. Tattoos? She painted the base of her neck with a tattoo of two koi fish in remembrance of her sister, Ana. Piercings? None.  Birthmarks? None so interesting to talk about. Disfigurements? None.   Scars? Plenty but one in particular is sometimes visible. The scar is like a washed out fish bone from her palm to the start of her wrist. It is the only evidence of having been burnt before. Do they have any nicknames? Where did they come from? Nowadays, she only goes by Kai. Or more recently, Freckles whenever it pleases her elf friend.

Three Wishes || Task

His hands shook as he ran them through his long black hair, he turned to see her lying in the grass a wide smile on her lips, he shook his head. Leaning over her so he rested on his forearms, his lips capturing hers a moment before pulling back. He examined her dark amber eyes, no trace of fear in their depths, and that utter faith terrified him. The way she hung on his every word, the way she trusted in him, the way she believed wholeheartedly she knew the body hovering over her and that it’s beating heart belonged to her alone. He rolled  back over so that he was looking up at the stars, at least they had some sense of what was lurking beneath the well polished cover of a handsome prince.

“I would suspect if a genie were lured from his holding place and greeted by me he would be quick to either attempt retreat or end his own existence, for fear of the danger that could be brought on by the wishes of a shadowed heart such as mine”, he looked back to her, there were tears brimming in the golden flecked eyes. “I don’t believe that”, she spoke softly, he wiped the tears from her cheek tenderly. “Tell me what they would be”, she demanded with a kiss to his palm. “I would wish my father’s mind no longer plagued by thoughts of his lost homeland”, he would wish to be king of Nysa; “I would wish for a good world”, he would wish for a world where he had made it so; “I would wish to have been born with the convictions and heart of a good man”, because a great man was one will duty and a good one was free. She frowned, now rolling over so that her chest was pressed to his, her heartbeat strong as it reverberated through him. Curled tendrils of her hair brushed his neck, “you are a good man Tristan”, she whispered against his lips. For a foolish moment he allowed himself to believe her-to melt into soft skin and golden eyes-but as the sun rose and the watchful stars vanished from the sky she woke alone. There was no apology left by her head, no unexplained emergency to be uncovered. Tristan had laid in that field for hours awake knowing when her amber eyes opened to be met by the sun she would be proved wrong and her heart would be left to beat in the shaky handed and dark haired boys chest, and yet there remained a hollowness beneath his ribs that continued to ache to be filled.

Someday You Will Be Loved

     “ I once knew a girl        In the years of my youth       With eyes like the summer       All beauty and truth       In the morning I fled       Left a note and it read                                                                             Someday you will be loved.”

There comes a point in the life of a self-aware being where one must consciously or unconsciously decide to face their faults or ignore them. I was fourteen years old when I became aware of the aspects of myself that were lacking, though it only took a day after this ahha moment before I decided these facts to resemble strengths far more than anything. Life all seemed very much the same to me afterward -easier perhaps- it seems very much the same to me now, years later. Perhaps it’s all terribly wrong, but in a world like this who can stop me?

This realization was brought on by the arrival of a particularly pretty girl, her father the king of some small and unknown kingdom. Her hair the colour of the mixed spices in the kitchen that were put in pies, her voice low and flowing with an enchanting accent. It was upon her arrival that I first felt such a strong desire to posses something, upon her first smile in my direction it had been decided that she would be mine.  At first it had been nothing more than the friendship of two children, I didn't mind, I was patient enough. Within her first year at court things began to take a turn I was rather fond of, late night meetings in distant gardens and fields. She spoke under the stars of her dreams, and soon enough I had found my way into them. Stolen kisses in abandoned corridors followed, cheerful dances in bright and singing ballrooms, I was quite certain I possessed her in almost every way.

   I convinced myself for a long time my intentions were pure, I think there may have been a moment where she’d asked me about the moon where I looked to her and found myself in love.

It was in my sixteenth year that the princess told me under the same stars how she loved me, I happily obliged in repeating the words, though they seem empty now I spoke them convincingly then believed them. By the time the stars had been blurred by the rising sun I was certain to own her in every way possible. For awhile I kept her like that, with meaningless words and nights under stars, but quickly a boredom found it's way into my veins -propelled further by each beat of my heart deeper into my being- and in response a most destructive urge. In a long and dark corridor on a rainy evening she spoke in her melodious voice an, “I love you Tristan”, I know there was more to the profession but I cannot remember it, not nearly as well as I remember the look in her eyes as I denied her. The tears that welled in her hazel eyes, the flecks of gold suddenly dulling. The way her hands dropped mine. I felt- even in this moment- the tight grip of boredom, it urged me on to find a new game to play.

And perhaps I lie to myself just as I do everyone else, but dwelling on the memories of sweet voices and evenings beneath the stars brings me no twinge of guilt.

Coraline was born and raised to a family who took pride in themselves being pureblood and hailing from the House of Slytherin. So when it was Coraline’s turn to be sorted during her first year at Hogwarts, it came as a great shock to her family when she was sorted in Hufflepuff. They were angry and embarrassed by the whole notion. But Coraline didn’t mind one bit about it. In fact, she loved being in Hufflepuff. She felt that she could be herself in that House. 

And so it was. Years passed since the sorting, and Coraline is now settled in nicely in Hufflpuff. Her parents still don’t like it, but they have now somewhat accepted it.

Coraline loves being at Hogwarts, as it serves as a peaceful haven for her - a different scene from the cold confines of her home and her companions there.

She is known for her caring and gentle nature, evidently seen when she's helping out in the infirmary. She loves living beings, so it came to no surprise that her favorite subjects are Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology. She also likes Potions, as it was also a bit like cooking -- one of the things that she's also good at.

Coraline doesn't have much friends, as most are afraid of her parents. However, she is loyal to the few friends she has. When she's not out in the gardens, she can also be seen in the owlery, tending to the owls there.

It was there in the owlery where she bumped into Radley Grimoult, a student from Gryffindor with whom she was not really familiar with. She was intrigued by this shy and quiet boy. She'd guessed that he doesn't have that many friends too, except for one other girl and boy she had occassionally seen him with. Coraline immediately struck up a conversation with him, and they became friends.

Shoulder angel; Balto

                                            “Aw, come on. What's the worst that can happen?“

Balto, for most of his life was rejected by many who feared the wolf inside of him; because of this, Balto grew insecure about his heritage. In spite of this Balto deep down is caring and compassionate and uses these qualities to redeem himself, find peace with his wolf heritage, and save the lives of those who rejected him.

The Ferra name is a name to fear. Aeron grew up all of her life being feared and understanding that fear was the only way people would leave you alone on the roads. Despite her harden exterior, she had deep compassion for those closest to her and would do anything for them. The most notable is how she treats her brothers, caring for four on her own. Aeron’s compassion is redeeming quality and will be the only thing to sway the minds of enemies.
