Jack counted the blows against the punching bag, each hit letting the anger bleed out into the open. She went to the gym when she needed time to think. Typically she would spar with a partner but no one showed up to the gym at this time. People went to the gym in the morning or late at night. Never right after getting out of work. Evelyn looked over at the barista who handed her her absolute favorite coffee drink. The girl winked at her and she couldn’t stop the awkward as all hell giggle that left her throat. Remembering what her guru had said, she steeled her nerves and smirked. Dear Christ, she hoped it was a smirk. “Oh, no. “So...hey, uh...you gonna finish that?”
“okay, hear me out,” carson couldn’t contain the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, almost bouncing from excitement. she was usually pretty chill, but this kind of stuff is what she lived for. it ignited her bones through her skin and she loved every second of it. “just one night - there’s this house a few hours away where there was a family massacre, and all the locals say they can still hear the sounds of the little girls playing inside.” her eyes were alive as she pulled up a pdf of the old newspaper article on her phone and tossed it at the other girl. “people have said they walk into the house and immediately feel this swell of emotions; something deep and real and dark and... shit, we gotta go. come with me? please?”
