I think a very large glaring factor that some of the “Langdon just yelled at her, she needs to get over it” people in the fandom look over is that Langdon isn’t receiving the normal consequences for his crime (and yes, diverting controlled substances as a healthcare work is a major, major crime).
Diversion of controlled substances is a felony. At minimum, Langdon should’ve lost his medical license and been prosecuted with likely jail time and/or mandated treatment. The fact he was just placed in the hospitals substance use treatment program is strange. And, you could argue, it’s TV and the ✨drama✨ was worth the inconsistency. Except the show has very very rarely done that.
Then you look at season 1, when Langdon is confronting Robby post-pittfest. Robby offers him the program. Tells him that’s the only way he can stay in the Pitt. Which he eventually does, according to season 2.
Which, at least in my opinion, likely means that the only people who know Langdon wasn’t just abusing benzos but was stealing them from his workplace is Robby, Langdon and Santos.
And just. Imagine with me people, that you turn your superior into their boss for a crime. After being publicly humiliated and gaslit and told that this superior is a wonderful person and wonderful at their job. And you entrust this information to your highest boss, tell them out of legitimate concern for safety of others. And that authority figure decides to instead of turning this information over to the proper channels, to make a deal that allows this person to not only avoid the consequences of this crime but also makes them STILL your superior when they return to work 10 months later.
No body in their right mind could just “get over that”.

i wanted to ask for some advice, if that's ok. as an artist i worry about drawing the same kinds of things in a row for fear that it'll be seen as boring, but i really love the repeating characters and themes in your work and am inspired by it a lot. has that worry ever bothered you, as an artist? and if so, how did/do you Combat it. i must win the duel with myself

i dont really think about what the viewer is gonna see in my art to be honest! i create for myself! everything i make is something i was having fun creating or something i was creating out of spite!! if people dont like what i make that's fine and not my problem at all
im not creating artwork for views or a job or anything otherwise id be making jujusu kaisen or kpop demon slayers art, ykno something super popular!!

i put this on my tiktok a few weeks ago when talking about just for tonight but i haven't been able to stop thinking about it (also please ignore the spelling error)
as i said, the whole show is the story of charlie through monty's eyes, but imo this song shows that the best. it's the clearest representation of montagu's entire mentality
like;
the focal point of the song is not the submariners setting out on the life threatening journey across the sea, and eventually coming to realise they are in severe, actual danger, but is instead the drinking, the partying, the dancing; the fun distractions from the deadly reality below.
the submarine is, in general, considerably more important. it is currently the mission after all, the namesake of the entire musical, but that is not what gets the limelight.
the bar crawl does instead. montagu convincing charles to stop worrying about the submariners, and to instead enjoy himself a little. have a break. live it up, and all that.
but, despite montagu's best efforts to sideline it, it is still there. it persists. lingers. the thoughts of his own mortality and how everything is very much on the line. and it is so very jarring.
that's why he doesn't stop talking about it. every other line or so, he mentions how everything could go wrong and they could very well die tomorrow. because he just can't stop thinking about it.
under all those layers of liquor, cigarette smoke and bravado, he is absolutely terrified of what will happen if it does go wrong.
the scene just before the song begins is the first display of montagu unintentionally bringing his "walls of repression" down, so to speak, and finally being a little more vulnerable with charles. the montagu he wanted to present to the team - and in turn, the rest of mi5 - would never have said something like "the world is a mess, charlie. small flashes of joy are all any of us can hope for..."
and so, if this is the first instance of tenderness, and the alcohol is clearly starting to loosen his lips a little and bring his impenetrable guard down, it only makes sense a song in a show through his eyes would mirror that rapid decline?
the song begins with a neat, clean, jazzy rhythm, and montagu clearly taking the lead. it's a very steady pace; not too slow, but no faster than andante. montagu is still managing to hold himself together, present himself as higher, better, wiser than charles, and the only way you'd notice his fear is if you were to peer inside his head.
then, as it goes on - notably, after the first submariner interlude - it starts to unravel. it speeds up in places, odd rhythms unknown to the style are thrown in, sounds unlike the brass of the first few verses begin to make an appearance, and montagu brings up the idea of losing tomorrow once again. charles is also more present in this segment. he has more lines, takes more charge; partakes in the chorus beyond the occasional interjection expressing his discomfort. the facade is starting to slip, montagu is starting to lose control.
come the small verse between the second and third submariner interlude, montagu and charles sing together, with equal parts, and upon reaching the finale - a melting pot of wild techno, blaring horns, and jewell's sea shanty; any kind of specific genre thrown to the wayside as the inebriation prevents any kind of coherence, and the world starts to spin - charles is belting out ewen's motif above the aforementioned shanty, and above montagu + the waiters' backing vocals.
charles has begun to think the way montagu does, and montagu has given up pretending he doesn't think like charles does.
Uhhhh, I guess? Many of them have separation from jash; the GUY, and are more focused on being ocs based off the songs/albums themselves. Many of my newer jashlings like Taylor, Serpula, or even some of the redesigns try and make them less cj-like. I really don't have a personal opinion and couldn't care less, I just want it to not break cjs' own boundaries. Im not sure the entirety of what that tweet he made said as I haven't seen it in awhile+deleted Twitter, so I have no idea if Jashlings as an idea were related to his words. Something something, if it becomes an issue, do it privately. I dont know, man.

i personally think that tumblr live and tumblr mart should be optional features; so should someone not want to see such content, they should be able to disable it. tumblr live can be disabled for ~7 days, but only stays off for ~3 days. if someone doesn't want to see it, because i sure as hell don't, they should have the option suspend it indefinitely.
