An AU I have been working on in Discord with @freelancerofthetriforcekeyblade is about how Magical Girls and Magical Boys would be integrated into the world of BNHA.
We go off track a lot with slice of lifey shenanigans involving Heroes dealing with these kids, and we derail into some really intricate ranking and identification systems, and don't get me started on the dark world building topics, or even how mythology and supernatural events would be dealt with.
But the basis of the AU's world building is that historically, Japan's way of dealing with Magical Girls and Boys is to pretend not to see. And then Quirks happened.
And then the Magical girls and boys ended up getting provisional licenses so they can act and not get arrested for vigilantism.
And then we have heroes who have policies to support these kids who are essentially operating as solo heroes (on solely magical events) but will all pull together as a community for major world ending events.
Which led to the Consortium of Magic and the Consortium Council who are all older Magicals who were once Magical Girls and Magical Boys who no longer are actively taking part in Interventions but deal with the HPSC on behalf of said Magical girls and boys.
And then came the Tea Ceremony and how Teachers are given parental powers over these young Magicals (assuming they trust them enough) and hold an inordinate amount of power in the Consortium.
We're at the point where Izuku and Aizawa and Hizashi and Yagi are barely even recognizable as BNHA characters, and are closer to OCs with the same names and characteristics. XD
"Oh gods, not another BNHA/KMY reincarnation AU, Mana, We thought you were safe from that with you!"
Well SOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRY. I thought I was also, because much like One Piece, there was so much goofiness (in the form of Inosuke and Zenitsu) that I couldn't take it seriously. But unlike One Piece, there is no end to beautiful characters to keep drawing my eye back. Yes, even Shinobu and Sanemi, though I don't much like their character personalities (character arcs yes, personalities? Garbage. Mana no likey.)
Just a warning: This is going to be everywhere because there are two versions getting brainstormed simultaneously. Also the influence from fanfic and other media.

Anyway, a new spin on the reincarnations idea:
-
Midoriya Inko's maiden name is Ubayashiki. She is the reincarnation of Ubayashiki Kagaya. This is perfectly normal for this particular bloodline. It's not uncommon for previous Ubayashikis to reincarnate back into the bloodline. What is uncommon is her son.
The former Hashira being reincarnated out in the wider world is not uncommon (They never remember the reincarnations, only the time they were Hashira. It's weird, but noone knows why it is this way. They exist in a loop of deja-vu and "Oh hey, we reincarnated! Where is everyone?!"). What is uncommon is Kamado Tanjiro being reincarnated at all -- in the past, Tanjirou only reincarnated once before, and that was during the Chaos Era. So what a shock it is to wake up on the morning her son turned five to Izuku waking up from a screaming nightmare, and realizing he is Tanjirou.
It has been roughly 1050 years since the end of Muzan.
The Midoriyas are the last of the Ubayashiki Bloodline, so while they live a fairly modest lifestyle, they are rich. Not Yaoyorozu rich, but comfortable rich.
The Ubayashiki still pass down the history of the demon slayer corps, but Yuushiro, Tamayo's demon companion, is the last demon in existence, and he is the steward of all the physical artifacts and records regarding the demon slayer corps.
Aizawa is Giyuu, because we like to hurt our stinky hobo man :D
Yamada is Rengoku, because Kyoujuro deserves happiness and in the past month, I am a converted RenGiyuu shipper :D EraserMic are a pair! Do not seperate!
Tengen is Jiroh, because I think it would be funny :D (also because Jiroh is one of Tengen's descendants, and the family all still practice Sound Breathing. It helps for concerts and stamina)
Shinazugawa is Bakugou because They're both angry characters I don't much like. Again, love their character arcs, don't love their personalities. (And I think it would be funny to fuck with Sanemi to find out that uh, yeah, the not really helpless Deku he spent the past decade protecting from bullies is Ubayashiki Kaguya'sOyakata-sama's son.)
Iguro Obanai is Kamui Woods, because Obanai deserves a (relatively) peaceful life.
Shinobu is Ibara because I think that would be absolutely hilarious.
Inui is Himejima because Why not?
Midnight is Mitsuri, just to fuck with Obanai :D
The other Kamaboko squad have reincarnated also, but none of them are aware. Nezuko is Ryuuku (she is aware but people think she isn't because she is lowkey about it) :D Inosuke, Genya, and Zenitsu are civilian salarymen etc
Muichirou is Ojiro, because Muichirou deserves a (mostly) happy upbringing for once
Sabito is Obito, naturally, because we do love to hurt Aizawa-Giyuu who is our beloved blorbo :D
It's very strange for Izuku, who will sometimes be told to do something by Inko, and he automatically responds with, "Hai, Oyakata-Sama!" And Inko has to go, "Izuku, you are the Last Ubayashiki son. You're the Oyakata now."
All I want in all of this is for Jiroh-Tengen's heart to HURT, because they overheard Yuuchirou talking to Midoriya, the last Ubayashiki son of Ubayashiki Blood for all that the bloodline no longer carries the name, and Midoriya Izuku is (as far as anyone not Inko or Izuku knows) not a reincarnated Hashira, he's just a bog normal fifteen year old, and because the League of Villains has somehow brought back Demons, this previously civilian boy now has to be brought in, because that's the Ubayashiki way, they'd stood guard against Muzan for a thousand years, and for a thousand years after that, they guarded and preserved the records and artifacts and resources of the Demon Slayer Corps on the off chance the impossible happens. And here and now the unthinkable has happened. Demons have returned.
Tanjirou-Izuku is freaking out. He's just a guy! He's the exceptionally strong rank and file Slayer who just happens to be the lynchpin to deal the final blow against Muzan! Now he has to be Oyakata-sama? he can't do this! Mama, help him!
Kagaya-Inko: I'll be right here if you need me, Izuku.
All the reincarnated demon slayers look at Midoriya Izuku, whom no one knows is Tanjirou reincarnated, and feel their hearts hurt, because whether he was Tanjirou or Izuku, Izuku cannot keep his feelings off his face, and Izuku is terrified This is a civilian boy, for whom the family history is at best stories from a long past age. He's only fifteen, he's at school to be a hero, it's only his FIRST WEEK in high school and he's just been attacked by villains and Demons.
Jiroh, to Izuku after Yuuchirou leaves: Hey Midoriya. You know, My family is descended from the Sound Hashira. We've all inherited his super hearing, and later it mutated into our quirks. We've kept that history alive because someone had to remember the Corps and their sacrifices, and the way Shinazugawa and Tomioka were, they were never gonna pass down that history. (Tengen is correct, in that neither of them had children, but Giyuu worked with Tanjirou to turn Water Breathing into a Kagura that got passed down. Sanemi fucked off and no one knows what happened to him.) I'm here for you, no matter what, alright?
Midoriya looks at her-at him-with such relief, it makes Tengen's heart hurt. Kami. What had they all sacrificed for? What had they all given their lives for? Midoriya's just a kid. An Ubayashiki kid, but still a kid, he's only ever known peace. And now they're going to make him the figurehead of the revived Demon Slayer Corps? It makes Tengen feel like shit. But (s)he is the same age as the kid. (s)He'll take care of him. They all owed it to Oyakata-sama, who had rigged his house with explosives and blown himself up with his family to buy the Hashira time.
^^^^ This is kinda the same thought the other reincarnated Hashira have. They all feel like shit about it.
Jiroh takes Izuku's hand and leads him up to Nedzu's office, where the demon--Yuushiro-- had directed them. Jiroh can hear the others there, behind the door, arguing. "Oyakata-sama has arrived!" She announced, hauling the door open.
She can hear Aizawa-sensei's heart skip a beat. Bakugou's palms pop. Yamada Sensei wheezes, choking. She has no idea which individual is which, all she knows from overhearing, is that they are all her once comrades. Tengen had not revealed himself, years as a shinobi and later a Hashira holding him back even after reincarnation. And she's glad for it, because Midoriya's heart--their young Oyakata-sama's heart--is racing, rabbit quick with fear. She's glad to stand beside him, because he'll need the support.
Giyuu had woken up after death to a new life. He'd hoped his second life would be kinder to him, and for a while it had been. In many ways, it is much much better, and still is. Then Obito-Sabito had died, died AGAIN, but Kyoujurou, Bright, beautiful, joyous Kyoujurou, whom he'd lost before he'd ever had him, was here, and Mitsuri too, and Giyuu was determined, he'd learned with Tanjirou in the years leading to the fall of Muzan and in the years after (dead by 25? What bullshit, they'd all died of old age, praise Kami. and lived long enough for tanjirou's children to call him grand-uncle what a way to go, he was still reeling over that 53 is not that old!Stop laughing Tanjirou, he might be missing an arm but he can still put you over his knee, Giyuu didn't give a fuck that Tanjirou was now a father), and he was determined to not make the same mistakes. He slithered into the shadows, sweeping through the Underground, and remembered to keep in touch "Communication is important, you asshole!" Sanemi shouts into his face, a handful of his haori in his fist, "If I have to deal with your brat bothering me about where you've been-" and this life is STILL better than before, all the hardships aside, because they all find each other. And Nezuko? Little Nezuko? Who married Zenitsu? She's a fucking DRAGON in this life, as she should be. Good on her. She kicks ass even now. (she went to the wedding and cried when he married Hizashi, she and Nem nearly flooded the venue with the sheer volume of tears.) they were STILL finding each other --But they hadn't found Tanjirou or the other children who had been part of his posse. That demon-Yuuchirou, who had followed Tamayo around, said he knew where they were, and that they weren't awake yet, and that Tanjirou had not reincarnated yet. And then Villains infiltrate the USJ. And they bring with them the impossible-the unthinkable. Demons.
And Yuuchiro goes out to speak with the last Ubayashikis. Mother and son. In the meantime, former Hashira and a handful of other former Slayers, and Nezuku, mustn't forget Nezuko, trickle in. Some are established heroes, some are civilian adults, a handful of current students holySHIT Sanemi is his student ("Fuck off, Rengoku." "You're so small" "I'll blast your face off, you fucking bastard!") "Oyakata-Sama has arrived," Jiroh Kyoka, his student, one of Tengen's descendants, says, and beside her? Wrapped in bandages? His student. His student. ("Holy shit" Bakugou-Sanemi whispers, voice hoarse and shaken, his palms popping off quick, agitated, "Damn. He's gonna get eaten alive.") Giyuu wants to be sick. Midoriya is shaking like a leaf. What did all those sacrifices add up to? How could this be worth the lives of so many lesser Slayers and the lives of all but three of the Hashira? How did it all come to this, that the last Ubayashiki son would be forced to once more lead the Demon Slayer Corps, reassemble them from bits and pieces of scattered family history? He's still badly injured, all but mummified with the amount of bandages on him. But Midoriya is afraid, and what kind of teacher would he be if he didn't console his kid? The Corps isn't assembled yet. Midoriya isn't Oyakata yet. He is Eraserhead, Aizawa Shouta. Here he is Midoriya's homeroom teacher first before he is ever Tomioka Giyuu, water Hashira.
Izuku, in the meantime, is freaking OUT. He's Tanjirou! TANJIROU! He's not Oyakata-sama, he's not Oyakata ANYTHING, Oyakata-sama is his mother! Ubayashiki Kagaya is his mother in this life, sure Izuku is Ubayashiki in this life, but he's TANJIROU! He can't be Oyakata, that's his mom! Where's Mama? Why is no one calling Mama? He can't do this, he's a quirkless faker, some random fuck-up of a slayer, too naive and compassionate by far, not nearly strong enough, he'd been trusted to help bring down Muzan with the Hinokami Kagura, and he couldn't even do THAT properly. He's beginning to understand how Giyuu must have felt way back then, Izuku's no Ubayashiki Oyakata anything he's a sham, a fraud, he--
Aizawa Sensei kneels down in front of him. His mind goes blank. Aizawa-sensei is hurt Hurt bad. He should be in the hospital.
"Hey, kiddo," Aizawa-sensei says, "You're ok. We'll take care of you here, yeah? Can you breathe for me, Midoriya? Breathe with me, in one, two..."
Aizawa Sensei leads him through a grounding exercise, and Yamada Sensei helps him back he his feet after, and Izuku--Tanjirou--no Izuku! He desperately wishes Giyuu were here. Even in the Infinity Castle, even with death breathing down their necks, when they thought none of them were gonna make it, Giyuu made him feel safe. Right now though, he'd give anything to be back in his apartment, with Mama, even if sometimes the knowledge that his mama in this life was Oyakata-sama in the previous life sent him reeling, because at least the apartment was safe and he knew where he stood. In the apartment, just as in the past life, Oyakata-sama was family(or he tried, Tanjirou had not been Hashira long enough to get hit with the full protective papa effect that Oyakata-Sama had on the other Hashira), and mama was mama (Tanjirou had not gotten more than a taste of Ubayashi Kagaya's loving fatherliness, but Izuku? Oh boy, he was Inko's only child and consequently, he got to take the full brunt of that parental love and concern).
(This is going to be ALOT for everybody)
Kagaya-Inko will be with him every step of the way. IzuTan is his/her flesh and blood child after all. She gave birth to him.
The main problem with this is Izuku's place in the narrative.
Would IzuTan look up to All Might the way Izuku does? No. Would TanZuku find being quirkless as difficult as Izuku did? Also no.
Would TanZuku view heroism as a hero or bust choice the way Izuku did? Maybe also no. But maybe also yes.
Canonically Tanjirou went from son to provider for a household to student to protector.
He never had a moment where he wasn't taking care of someone, because he eventually got married and started a family. so maybe TanZuku would view heroism through the lenses he viewed Slaying, a means to an end. What end though? He has a mom who loves him, a childhood friend, who, while rough, never turned on him for being quirkless (Because Sanemi would never fall to the same ego boosting Bakugou did, and he wouldn't view someone reaching out to him in a gesture of care as looking down on him-Sanemi-Bakugou literally wouldn't have the same inferiority complex no matter how rough he is. Sanemi canonically viewed power as a means to an end, and also viewed those without the power to defend themselves as, not so much lesser but to be protected, half of why he was harsh on the rank and file Slayers during the Hashira Training Arc was because the skills of the rank and file slayers seemed to be decreasing every generation and as a Hashira he didn't want them to DIE) As proof, I will offer the look on his face in the final arc when the rank and file used their own bodies to protect the Hashira from Muzan
If I can find it
Literally I doubt Inko-Kagaya would even support such a dangerous career choice, unless it was something she felt would make TanZuku genuinely happy, he's the LAST BLOODLINE UBAYASHIKI, even if the name has died out.
Literally, Izuku's place in this narrative, would run entirely on the fact that Tanjirou didn't set out to become a demon slayer to kill demons, he just wanted to turn Nezuko back to a human, Defeating Muzan only became part of the goal when he found himself in a position where he and Nexuko would have to keep proving themselves, but also a question of keeping everyone he cared about safe because by that point, everyone who meant anything to him were all Demon Slayers.
Tanjirou was perfectly happy as a charcoal seller.
So TanIzuku would not glorify heroism the way Canon!Izuku did
Thus, instead, maybe he'd go into Gen-Ed. So it wouldn't be Aizawa-Giyuu talking him through a panic attack, it would be Yamada-Rengoku, since he's in charge of the Gen Ed kids
Tengen-Jiroh, still on campus because she's leaving the nurse, would overhear Yuuchirou talking to the Gen-ed kid about his duty as an Ubayashiki, and she'd turn right around because Tengen, for all his faults, was as loyal to Ubayashiki Kagaya as all the other Hashira. Kagaya's death really messed up all the Hashira when they arrived to find the Estate in Ruins and Muzan standing over what was left of Kagaya and Amane. And Tengen, who was retired and not battle worthy, had to stay behind with Ubayashiki Kiriya and help take care of everything else while the entire Corps was fighting in what was easily the longest night in their collective lives. Tengen-Jiroh had supported Ubayashiki Kiriya in taking over the Corps after his father's death, and views it as his duty as the former Sound Hashira to take caare of this new, younger, less experienced (very civilian) Oyakata.
Then the sheer chaos of the former Hashira meeting Midoriya Inko and realizing that she's Ubayashiki Kagaya, and the cherry on top is finding out that the current Oyakata-Sama, Midoriya Izuku, was once upon a time, Kamado Tanjirou.
"Imagine waking up and realizing that Oyakata-sama is your literal mom." "You're the Oyakata now, Izuku~" "Yes, Oyakata-sama." "Don't sass me, young man, I brought you into this world, I can take you out of it." "Yes, Oyakata-sama." "You children, see what I had to deal with? And not a one of you came to visit your poor father." "You're a mother now, Oyakata-sama." "Not the Oyakata anymore~ I-zu-ku~!"
Everyone is so weirded out.
Izuku tries not to think about it too much because Inko was a strict but loving mother, just as Kagaya was a strict and loving father. He's Tanjiro, and he's Izuku, but the time of Tanjirou is over. There is no space for an uncommonly strong Slayer, because in this life, he is an Ubayashiki. He can only be Oyakata-sama. (He could also be more, maybe everyone's little brother again but that's only if he opens his mouth and says it, but he... Doesn't really tell anyone?)
Giyuu? Giyuu is so relieved.
He'd worried about Tanjirou, about his place, if he'd reincarnated. The new Oyakata, even with the hardships and burdens of leadership, is still better than on the front lines. Don't get him wrong, Tanjirou had been an incredible slayer, Hinokami Kagura had been undeniably an asset, a force multiplier that was second only to the Kakushi, and Tanjirou had more than qualified to be a Hashira twice over by the time he had been inaugurated as Sun Hashira. But Tanjirou had only really thrived spiritually and mentally and emotionally when everything was over. Giyuu had spent the whole of Tanjirou's career as a rising star in the Corps drowning in worry for the boy, fearing that he might die, or worse, that his good disposition and endless hope and kindness would be broken by the hardships of the work. And in this life, he didn't leap headfirst into danger. He literally couldn't.
All the same, he wanted this all to be over. Whether Tanjirou or Izuku, he was too kind for this kind of dirty work.
( @freelancerofthetriforcekeyblade : Big dad feelings)
Giyuu literally threw himself bodily between tanjirou and certain death so many times in the Infinity Castle arc, like, the look on his face in the everytime the kid's hurt?
Giyuu would happily die for the kid.
Dad. 100% Or big Bro as the case may be.
Of course, now he's just an unrelated teacher, not even in the same department, so he feels a little bit lonely. Kagaya-Inko, very amused, plots ways to put TanZuku in GiyuuAizawa's way as often as she can. Far be it for her to get in the way of her baby's happiness. Goodness knows Tanjirou's missed Giyuu a lot. And it's not like Giyuu would let the most recent Oyakata get hurt. :D
And as a bonus, in the previous life, Rengoku had wanted tanjirou as his Tsugoku! So if Izuku crosses paths with Aizawa more often, he'll bond with Yamada too! Bonus! Two excellent heroes, both once Tanjirou's mentors (for very different amounts of time, Kyoujuro having died the first time he took Tanjirou out with him), but both were very fond of him, and even now, Yamada is Izuku's homeroom teacher!
Plus Plus! No negatives!
Shinazugawa-Bakugou feels a chill go down his spine. "I feel like Oyakata-Sama is plotting again." Shinobu-Ibara: "Hmm? Which one?" Shinazugawa-Bakugou: "The last one."
This AU, I think, doesn't really end nearly as smoothly, because suddenly you have heroes killing Noumu, which were once humans, and some people get really pissed off if you so much as squash an ant, say nothing of the people who think turning off life support for a braindead person is tanamount to murder.
IDK, I have no idea how this would work out otherwise, because these poor people would be SO over worked, heroes and whatever day job by day, demon hunting by night, dragging no less than FIVE students into what is essentially vigilantism....
What if Aldera is still a shit school and the teachers pretty much do nothing to stop the blatant bullying and quirk use, but. And this is where it is awful: They don't encourage it, they don't stop it, but they DO tell Izuku, tolerate it. You NEED to get used to this, because this is how people will treat a Quirkless out there. And on top of that, the teachers are constantly push-push-pushing Izuku
They don't help him or tutor him but they push him to get good grades, they give him more work, more challenging work, and they push-push-push him to do WELL to be the BEST to be EXCELLENT because it's the only way a Quirkless can compete with the Quirked
\Aldera is a shit school, they produced two excellent students, but they onl really believe that the one with the strong flashy quirk will get anywhere, but they PUSHED the quirkless one too, just Push-Push-Push to strive to the top to be the best, because their JOB is to TEACH, and come hell or highwater, they WILL TEACHyes the Quirkless one too, even if he'll die in the next few years and render all that effort wasted.
Like, imagine how that would fuck up Izuku, because while those teachers won't say it to his face, he's probably overheard a few times, that he's wasted effort, but goddamn it, these teachers are being paid to teach so they will teach, but WTF, that stupid, ungrateful, WORTHLESS quirkless boy is going to die in the next few years anyway and all that effort will have been for nothing.
Dozed off for a bit and dreamed of a No Quirks! AU where Vermillion!Izuku crashes through multiple PhDs Aizawa and three Doctorates Mic's window with three bullets in his gut and another one in his leg and Mic runs out of the flat to wake up the downstairs neighbor, famous surgeon Toshi, who grumbles about damned vigilantes and "next time call a fucking ambulance!" then timeskip an indeterminate amount of time in which the relationship has become erasermicmight and vigilante Izuku keeps breaking into the flat for medical care, much to erasermicmight's aggravation and dismay. I woke up to Toshi saying, "Jesus wept, brat, learn how to dodge!"
(Hisashi HC Anon) 1/2) For when you feel up to it, if you wish to play around with it; Izuku and Aizawa are related (father, uncle, brother, whatever) but before it's revelled they have these conversation; A: "I'm not sure I want to know where your recklessness comes from." I: "Mum tells me I take after my [something]." A: "Your [something] needs to be hit over the head." I: "Mum agrees with you, but he's not around much, saving lives isn't an easy job." (but more in character)
2/2) When it’s made public that they are related they have bets on how long it’ll take for everyone to piece together that they have been having family conversations under everyone’s nose. I: “Mum making [something]’s favourite, she thinks the smell of it will be able to draw him out of the wood works.” But yeah, that’s something to play around with if you wish. Hoping you are doing well, and take as much time as you need, your health always comes first. Wishing you a lovely day!
I think a good one would be where Inko isn’t mentally stable but is really good at playing the role of caring doting mother around guests but when alone has the tendency to kick izuku out for weeks at a time without warning,so she does during fall or winter when he home from the dorms for the weekend or during a school break and either present mic or eraserhead find him sleeping in a alley * cue protective dadmic, dadzawa or both*
Wha if u pulled an Ice King & made it so somethin similar happened to AFO? Like wha if he used 2 be a kind carin guy but the power of his quirk consumed him? N that Izu is AFO's Marcelline & is tryin 2 save him?
