My version of Kiros' pride. My number of lionesses comes from this overhead screenshot of the pride circling Obasi's pride. Subtracting Akua and Amara from the number makes 14 lionesses, adding them back with the other males of Kiros, Shaju, and Azibo make 19 total members. Not exactly the 'two for every one of ours' claim Chigaru was making if we have them at ten, but close enough. Plus with all the whites it be easy to miscount.
Kiros(lord), the menace of the Valley of Kings and to all life. Shunned and hated from a young age due to his and his sisters' peculiar pelts, he quickly grew in notoriety as he killed his birth pride and swiftly began taking over other prides, assimilating their territories and other white lions sharing similar backstories. Not much else to add to Kiros' story, though he remains a terrible figure in history, to a point where many white lions are still shunned, exiled a/o killed due to the thought of one ending up as bad or worse as the white lion king. Also should mention that despite his appearance, he has no connection to either Kimba's lineage or the pale-coated Theluji pride lions, and both prides have denounced any connection to him, though still suffer from prejudices in issues like alliances and such.
Next up is Kiros' intended successor, Shaju(warrior). He got another minor redesign after I realized that he had an interesting head stripe design and didn't seen to have lighter paws, as well as a slight bang and cheek change. Now he looks less like a white Kovu and more like a son of Kiros, still keeps Kovu's cockiness though. The only son of Kiros and brother of Mvuka, he was the apple of his father's eye, his heir, his blood, the next king of everything. His mother was a non-white lioness, the last of Kiros' birth pride, whom Kiros forced her to bear cubs, then killed his non-white children and their mother when his white cubs were weened. Since then Shaju was raised as his father's heir and he and his sister underneath the many watchful eyes of their aunts and other lionesses. Because of Kiros' focus on him, he became rather spoiled, cocky, and arrogant, much like Taka however Kiros did prioritize strength and action as a measure of power, so he was a skilled fighter and hunter too. Everything Shaju wanted, he got, whether ladies, food, or playmates, and rejection was met with swift and often unfairly delt punishment. However Kiros' spoiling eventually led to Shaju's downfall. As a so called 'final-test' as he called it, Shaju told his father he Azibo would go out to the final pride and take out a lioness before the final takedown of the pride. Though Kiros was concerned, he relented, and we know how that went for both lions. Kiros had intended Obasi's pride to be the final battle before succeeding ruling to his son, though his carefree parenting had led to his son's early death. Kiros chose to blame his mistake not on himself or his son's foolish decision, but on the pride and lion who was just defending himself, justifying the previously established extermination as vengeance.
Azibo(the earth) was one of the later members to join, coming in as a young teen when Shaju was still a cub. Being the only other male in the pride, Shaju immediately attached himself to Azibo, sort of like Taka to Mufasa. Unlike with Mufasa though, the pride did encourage the friendship between Azibo and Shaju, however made it clear that disobeying or hurting the prince in any way would have serious consequences, as he later found out the hard way. Azibo did have a small fondness to Shaju, though as time went on his friendship felt more forced, more leader and pawn, and by the end he was basically following Shaju's every order to avoid the ire of the pride. Azibo was forced into joining Shaju's attack on a singular member of the last pride in the Valley, a sort of prelude before the final battle, though neither anticipated a young male with the lioness, nor his fighting prowess and the sharpened log. Both lions lives ended that day, though Azibo's legacy still carried on, as he had had relationship with two lionesses, one being Kiros' daughter, who bore a son after the war of Milele, named after her late brother. Azibo was characterized by his submissive behavior, held prior due to him being outcast by his pride and kicked out with his cousins at a young age. He quickly learned that obedience and amenability were the best way to survive, as being the only other, non-royal male in a pride full of battle-ready females was a disadvantage. I did also change his eyes to gold, hopefully the last change.
For Kiros' sisters, I decided to take Zira's cold, calculating side and sadistic, furious side and split it between them. Amara(aide) is the middle child and eldest sister, and is one of Kiros' top lieutenants, huntress, and scout. A cold, calculating and perceptive sort, she is very good at planning attacks and hunting strategies. Had she survived, she would've taken over the pride in her brother's step, running it as he would've wanted.
Akua(born on a Wednesday) is the youngest sister and is more erratic and sadistic then her calculating sister, though shares her same position as scout, huntress, and top lieutenant. Vicious and cruel, she takes her predatory instincts and turns it up, preferring to attack with the most damaging and painful moves, whether in fighting or hunting.
Down below we see the cousins more clearly. She had three daughters, Faika(superior), Shia(flawless) and Santine(huntress), are the trio above and Amara's daughters, clearly annoyed with something, which is getting their other cousins, Akua's daugthers Hatari(danger) and Hasira(rage), who share in their mother's bloodlust and fury, and are riled up. Not very hard to do, considering the twins are both troublesome and temperamental, complimenting abrasively with the trio's calculating, cold, and edgy demeanors. Faika was the lioness who got buffalo body-slammed by Mosi after trying to attack Rafiki, Hasira was fatally kicked in the head by Ajarry the giraffe, while Shia and Hatari fell with their respective mothers into the earth during the quake.
The departing lioness, Mvuka(ghost) is Shaju’s daughter and Kiros’ only other child. A quiet, yet ambitious type, overlooked for her gender and her golden heir brother, however she would end up being the last of Kiros’ bloodline come the war of Milele. She, along with her cousin Santine and two other lionesses, Reta and Gabra, were the remaining ones to survive and keep the pride and their cause alive. Mvuka would later give birth to an heir, sired by Azibo, and named after her late brother. Eventually they would be able to reform the pride into a silent, deadly threat for generations to come, up until the time of Simba and Regandi's prides, going under the name of the Wasaki, who, in another timeline* were much more a threat to the Pridelanders specifically. Mvuka has a large scar on her side, based off thus one screenshot I saw, though otherwise is probably the most plain and unassuming of the lionesses in the pride.
Lastly are all the lionesses bearing no sort of blood-relation to Kiros or his family. Dabu(pain), Fusi(born after twins), Juba(born on a Monday), and Hila(trick) you'll probably recognize as the lionesses I did recently. To recap, Fusi and Juba are sisters from the same pride kicked out as cubs, and both found and raised by Kiros' pride, Hila and Duba are Azibo's cousins who were all kicked out as young adults. Juba and Hila both died in the elephant stampede, one getting trampled by an elephant and the other falling off the falling rocks into the canyon below. Dabu collapsed on the mountain to the cold and hunger, and Fusi was the lioness who leapt down the waterfall and got eaten by crocs. Fusi also was Azibo's lover, though in an effort to prove her loyalty after Azibo's death she willingly hopped in after the two brothers, only to find herself with lover on the other side when the crocs attacked and dragged her down.
Lastly, from left to right, are Gabra(offering), Juta(regret), Reta(pearl), and Laana(curse). Gabra was found abandoned as a cub and raised by Laana, who was exiled as a young adult and soon had her daughter Reta, whom Gabra came to see as a sister. Juta was found in a pride Kiros took over and swore her allegiance to him after seeing him take down her abusers.
Juta, Gabra, and Laana are the lionesses who decided to chase after Zuri and her mother, but were stalled just in time by Zazu. Unfortunately, the stalling resulted in a rhino, hippo, and several other herbivores catching up to them, charging and beating them with hooves, horns, teeth, and tusks. Juta and Laana succumbed to the fight, though Gabra was torn away from it by Juta. Heavily injured, she was able to regroup with Mvuka, Reta, and Santine. All lionesses received injuries from the fight, with Gabra the worse off with a dislocated shoulder, gouged side, broken toe, and missing eye. Reta lost an ear and most of her tail trying to pulling her out, Santine got pecked, bit and scratched by birds and the hyenas, and Mvuka got nasty bites and scars from the pride lionesses. Mvuka, Santine, Hasira, and Reta were the ones who witnessed Akua, Amara, Hatari, and Shia fall into the earth. The four ran back to retreat, though Hasira was killed and both Juta and Reta managed to pull Gabra out from the fight. Though beaten and heavily injured, the four survivors, and later five with Mvuka's son Shaju II, would continue Kiros' legacy.
*Specifically in the Twisted Tales Anthology's TLK story: "A New Dawn", where Mufasa survived the fall and Scar allies himself with the Wasaki lion pride to take over the pride with a now young adult Simba. There isn't much descriptions about them aside from the males being large and all being vicious and skilled fighters, so... free real-estate!
