I have been in a funk and not drawing as much but Ive been thinking about an older character of mine I haven’t given much love and wanted to come back and rework her design a bit. A very fem, cutesy type wizard, who defeats her enemies through the power of love (and overwhelming firepower)

I love the idea of blending modern tactical gear with medieval fantasy, its so ridiculous, stupid, and over the top- and honestly- it kinda give him a sinister vibe that I’ve been looking for. Tactical gear is also *slightly* fash as well as eurocentric medieval fantasy! So in a way it kinda makes him more villainous looking, especially for the early arcs where he has to come to terms with the Crime Empire him and his family built up, and the people whose lives he has directly/indirectly ruined.

Is it suuuuuper different than how I’ve drawn him in the past where I was taking more inspiration from Spider-Man Noir’s design? Not really, no, but I like it and MGS is what I’m obsessed with at the moment and this is MY FANTASY story I’ll do whatever dumbass shit I want with it!

Trying to actually ink a piece, heres where I’ve gotten so far

I generally like the way I have it shaded, though I think theres a few spots where I look back and Im like “Did you really think about what you were doing here?” It’s kind of just thrown together without intent I guess.

Oh and the face,,, I fucked that up real bad. It’s got a weird oblong potato look going on, and I really fucked up his little strand of hair, just does not look very good there.

I also need to start using multiple references for single pieces, because I’m really not a fan of how the clothes and accessories look flat to me.

I like the pose, it could’ve definitely use another pass for getting the anatomy right, but oh well, its in ink so gotta make it look as good as I can- mistakes and all

Any thoughts and critiques you have I’d be happy to hear, always looking to expand my horizons. Im working on a couple different hairstyles for Taxal, and will be posting them with hopes of getting some feedback to what works and what doesn’t for them.
